What are the chances for MorphOS to run on an ARM CPU? Genesi is investigating Texas Instruments' OMAP platform, which includes very powerful SOCs like the OMAP3430, with an ARM Cortex-A8 core (triple performance of an ARM 11), and all this capabilities:

    - IVA? 2+ (image, video, audio) accelerator enables multi-standard (MPEG4, WMV9, RealVideo, H.263, H.264) encode/decode at D1 (720 x 480 pixels) 30 fps.
    - OpenGL ES2.0 compliant.
    - Integrated image signal processor (ISP) enables up to 12 megapixels still image capture.
    - Composite and S-video TV output.
    - XGA (1024x768 pixels), 16M-color (24-bit definition) display support.
    - MIPI and FlatLink? 3G-compliant serial display, parallel display support.
    - High-speed USB 2.0 On-The-Go (OTG) support.
    - HLOS support for customizable interface.
    - Optimized power-management companion chip: TWL5030.

ARM would be a better long term target than PowerPC, but as bbrv knows already, I believe SPARC is the best goal for long term viability, especially considering the availability of commodity ATX motherboards for development/resale.

SPARC? Interesting... tell us more, for example, links to development products based in this architecture. Are there many consumer products based in this platform? I thought it was only used, long time ago, in SUN workstations.

In addition to the Fuji link above (Fuji making the fastest SPARC's in the world, the SPARC64 IV) there is also:

here's an ATX SPARC motherboard good for development. Faster than the A1 or Pegasos if you go by SPECs.

As for consumer products, not really. SPARCs however are found in industrial products ranging from Satellites to Navigational Control Computers. And, to make Doomy happy, yes, they make MilSpec chips... 8)
