    Help!

Just installed MOS 1.4.5 on my Peg1.

Added: MOSNet, MOS 3D and so far so good, everything works nicely.

Then I thought I'd install sputink 2nd beta. The docs said to install MUI4 and newest Ambient so I installed MUIbeta_20060922, then Ambient 1.43 070311 by extracting the archives and manually copying the files into the correct places on SYS:

Rebooted the machine and it all looks good, until I double click on any of the drive icons on my desktop or click about MorphOS in the menu. At this point it just freezes. I can still move the mouse but that is it.

I can open a newshell if i don't do any of the above first, and this continues to funtion perfectly well after the rest of Ambient freezes up. I can even use the commandline to open executables, it's just Ambient that is dead.

    Any ideas chaps?

    -edit:

Machine is Pegasos 1 (No April 1 or 2), 128MB ECC Registered RAM, Voodoo 3500 AGP, no other PCI cards added, using 80wire cables for HDD and CDRW.

Yeah, it is indeed desktop that dies. You could try following: enable ramdebug from boot options at openfirmware, boot to Ambient and open shell window. Crash Ambient, run getramdebuglog and post crash log to somewhere.
    1 + 1 = 3 with very large values of 1

Thanks for your advice, I solved it by copying the MUI files to MOSSYS: instead of SYS:

So much for "Thou shalt not polute thy holy MOSSYS: with 3rd party files" ;-)

Heh, I don't think they count MUI as strictly '3rd party' as it's such a big part of the system ;-)
