    I have a little question:

Could be Sputnik being integrated with Reaggae as a PLUG-IN in the future, so we could enhance it with datatypes for any stream audio-video?

I mean that then we could for example: write Video YouTube stream data for Reggae, and play it in Sputnik, while navigating that pages...

MIDI datatype for Raggae, and play MIDI files on background of HTML pages...

Or things like Google Maps, or anything related to any stream data, such as SIP Phone telecommunication VoIP???

Would be much more interesting a khtml class for reggae, a khtml datatype or khtml MUI class so any app can have access to the render engine and embed web pages (umm!! Yam with html e-mails at last!!! ;-) )

I think, khtml as a MUI class was the main objective, and that sputnik was just a class demo while coding, but I might be wrong xD...

Why do you want to have html web pages displayed in an email program?
    For watching porn mails?
You can simply send them to OpenURL with an ARexx script.

    @Raf_MegaByte:

I don't know how Sputnik looks inside, but I think it's impossible. YouTube videos are flash videos, writing a specific wrapper which downloads them is already done, and it's not a job for a Reaggae class or a browser. GoogleMaps should work in final version of KHTML, because it's only some HTML+JavaScript+Serverside communication (AJAX) code. MIDI sound?? I can't believe that there still are people wanting this feature :). I think nowdays there isn't any modern web pages with this "feature" (mostly it's replaced with a flash midi player to preserve compatibility, e.g. on ringtone sites). VoIP? What does Sputnik to do with VoIP? :D

I think we really need is the mentioned KHTML MUI class. If you look on Linux or OSX, a very large palette of programs uses KHTML(/WebCore) for displaying their interface (like Kopete, Adium, Colloguy, or e.g. KDE help, etc...). It could be used in RSS readers, online documentations, and other programs...

It should be possible to provide some hook for link functions though, for use as a general hypertext MUI class. Eg when someone clicks on a link, your hook is called, rather than having to load some existing html.

A lot of companies send emails with html-code (as a matter of fact got one even yesterday from www.halvathinnat.com). On top of that, for some strange reason emailers like IncrediMail are very popular these days, emails full of html.

That doesnt sound 'simple' to me. Why not just read the email where it is supposed to be read: in email-client.

    You are contradicting yourself.
An email program is not supposed to display html pages.
That is what web browsers are for.

I think email has to be in simple text format, but you can't tell the whole world that they should not use HTML for their mails, so we have only one choice: support it (reading, not writing). I think mails should be displayed in email client, no matter in which format they are. Web browser should display web pages per definition.

Well, just as long as I get to see the real email by default, I don't mind if there is a button to view it as html.

There is no reason why Reggae can't support Flash as a demuxer; use http.stream both in the demuxer and the app to retrieve data and other objects.

What Sputnik needs is a Flash plugin, which uses Reggae to handle all the media types inside (3GP video, mp3 audio is all a Flash Video is, ffmpeg simply builds a demuxer on top of these with some special handling for example). A lot of the Flash decoding can be offloaded to Reggae classes that way. Actual rendering would need to be in the app, but you can get that from Reggae classes in the case of video/bitmaps..

A MUI WebCore class was the whole point of Sputnik, was it not?

Reggae flash plugin is not the same as we was talking about at first, but I think it's a very good idea of course, but I don't know if it is possible to implement or not.

The main problem will be that Flash files are not movies, they are interactive usually, so feedback information is needed. Reggae picture.output class needs just a RastPort as target, hypothetical flash.output will need a complete window, to get user input, or such input has to be delivered other way.
