This semi-official patch should fix the rtl_8139pci.device to handle 100mbit speeds properly.

    Download it from: rtl8139-50.12-100mfix.lha

Install instructions are inside the archive.

I got it to work I think. I moved the file into the devs dir and then in my cli I changed to the dir and ran the command again. How do I tell if I am at 100Mbit now or not? I use MiamiDX.

Probably the easiest way to tell is by the lights on the card (if it has 10/100Mbit light)

But if you can't *feel* the speed difference, does it really matter, if it's 10 or 100Mbits? ;-)

Obviously it affects mostly the speeds in local area network.

Indeed the speed difference isn't visible in normal web browsing, IRC or so. You can only see it when you transfer large amounts of data in LAN (for example large smb or ftp transfers).

Also, it should be pointed out that the 100mbit speed already worked with certain configurations (for example my old 100mbit switch gave 100mbit, while the new gigabit switch gave only 10mbit. In fact, this behaviour lead me to the bug).

There was a small outage due to networking HW failure. The server is back up now.
