    Ave!

I've just noticed, that the last but one YAM version (dated 15.03.2006) has a very strange bug: If YAM is running, and I try to copy a big file into my RAM: disk, the System crashes every time when it reaches only 15-20 MB free of my RAM. The effect appears even when I quit YAM. (No problem without YAM, even if I open MUI prefs and load all the classes into the RAM, so I guess this is not a MUI classes' bug.) Did someone else get the same effect?

The latest YAM version (20.03.2006) even not starts me, it doesn't appear in Exchange and Scout says nothing either.

The 21.03.2006 version starts but makes the same strange memory bug.

have you found where the problem is?

I'm on MOS-Scalos(PowerUP) and with the latest YAM 2.5dev release, i have a weird problem me too. (since codesets.library 6.1)

If i do an "Avail flush" from Shell, the shell freezes.

Another "Avail FLUSH" from another shell, make disappeares all my CSPPC memory!

No problems with another MOS partition with Ambient.

The Avail flush freezes at me too. The only thing I know, that the fresher versions have the bugs too.

    Any ideas?

It might be related to the library expunge problem I reported to Langner today. Or maybe not, but we will see.

There is also http://sourceforge.net/tracker/?atid=113560&group_id=13560&func=browse which might be useful to report bugs.

    :-)

the weird thing is that with Ambient (still MUI 3.9 here) it doesn't happens.

IMHO all its started by the needs of codesets.library 6.1

Anyway itix... yes "sometimes" i do bug reports but only if i'm 100% sure thats not a local problem ;-)

Glad to hear i'm not the only one to have this problem. Thanks.

What do you mean? I'm using Ambient (the latest CVS), and the problem is existing.

Yes, I think so. But I think the problem is not because of this lib, rather then other things.

    Ambient 1.43 (12 Mar 06) and MUI 3.9 on MOS-PowerUP.

All the hits, relies to "ramlib" here.

Anyway seen that itix already did the bug report (thanks), we have only to wait for a fix :-)

YAM is a crucial app (at least for me). As happened in the past (and still happens even due all the OSs variants around) i'm confident that the YAM Team will fix it.

The changes itix wrote about are committed to the codesets CVS repository. There is no new version released.

    Does codesets 6.0 work?

nope. All the latest version requires codesets.library 6.1

I'm not able to find the itix report on codesets bug tracker.

Hm... I have a newer problem too: for the latest builds coming int the front from iconified state takes much more time, the program draws the window border, and it takes half an secundum to display it's contents. So I'm currently using the 14/03/2006 one, but it will stop working tomorrow (erm, I hate this "you can only use this version if it's not older than a month"-thing). It would be quite urgent to get a new and working version.

(And for those who are using the latest stable version: I can't turn back for this 2 year old version, because the db format has changed and it has a quick search and other features, what I don't want to miss.)

I never did formal bug report to a tracker but only mailed to Langner (I checked SVN and found possible culprit). I cant use YAM here...

have you XPK installed? i've deleted from Libs and now YAM works without the Avail Flush/ramlib problem :-)

Thanks Itix for your suggestions about debug settings.

    EDIT_ and exacly this compressor:

    Libs:Compressors/xpkIMPL.library

Oh, cool! Thanks, now the avail flush and the 'copy a big file to fill the whole ram disk'-problem are both gone!

What about the slowly displaying window?
