The Ambient Desktop website www.ambient-desktop.com have been updated.

There is also now a complete version of Ambient 1.43.0 (non-debug) available to download in downloads. This new version comes with a installer script that install all files in their proper locations. There is no filetypes scripts or other scripts included in the archive. If You already is using and have filetypes scripts installed in Your system, they will be kept intact. There is also some contributions available at the website containing filetypes scripts as well as some packages containing images for the toolbar and context menues.

Please note, this is a snapshot of current development in progress, and some functions aren't yet completed or fully functional. It is recommended to use MUI 4 alpha with this version.

The daily builds will from now on be made as complete archives with the installer included. And they will continue to be made as debug versions.

    Enjoy !
    Best wishes, Gunne

    takemehomegrandma,

What You might notice is that the Action Editor not is completed yet. It depends on that the person developing this is busy with school-work for the moment.

In all other aspects Ambient is very good and nice to use.

There is a lot of filetypes script as contributions. You just need to edit them You want to use manually to suite your system. Easely made in any text editor.

    Have You tried it ?

You do have something to look forward too, if you haven't :-)

    No I haven't (yet).

I'm just about to whipe my hard drive and do a fresh install, with all the latest OS components, applications, etc, and get rid of a lot of junk that's just lying around everywhere. :-)

Hmm, I just realized that I wish all developers would use MorphUP when they publish their software! ;-)
MorphOS is Amiga done right! :-)
MorphOS NG will be AROS done right! :-)

    takemehomegrandma,

    Try it ! :-)

It might be made as archives for MorphUP later on.

    all,

I would like to take up another thought here. Sorry for being little bit of topic.

Right now archives is made as tar.gz. I feel this is very good to use for MorphOS.

As I understand also MorphUP can handle archives up to DOS-limit (filesize 2GB)

lha (or any other Amiga-format) has it disadvantages. Two things that comes to my mind:

    # They need to read in all data in memory before writing to disk.

    # They cant archive soft-links properly.

Btw, Daily builds is now on made as nightly builds, with additional information in the screen title bar. :-)
    Best wishes, Gunne

Wow, what a brilliant release. But is it a known bug that usb
msd devices possessing an own icon (disk.info) are not shown at the
Ambient desktop while they are under "My MorphOS"?

Yes it's a known bug, not easy to fix actually. It's not related to devices having icons or not, it can happen in any case.
It's a long-time standing bug, which was made visible with the introduction of my morphos.

Ah - thought it was dependant whether there was a file 'disk.info'
present or not. Hadn't probed it, but one device showed up, another
didn't (which had a nice custom drive icon).

Anyway, that bug is really of minor impact...

Where does one report bugs to ? sf.net bugtracker ?

I'm using the daily builds but can imagine it would get very annoying, very quickly if I report things that aren't completed etc.

Hi guys. Yessum, some new features in this new snapshot, and so far I have only found one bug - sometimes when you move icons the system will lock up completely, but only sometimes.

Just one question if someone wouls be kind enough to help... How do I access the browser icons in Ambient Settings? The only buttons available all look the same (bar 2) - blue spheres. Even when I download browser button gfx and install them in SYS:Mossys/Ambient/images they still do not show up in Ambient Settings.

I am probably doing something stupid, so please dont be shy pointing it out. :)

Thanks again for any help offerred.
