    Hi everyone,

I was just trying to install Samba with MOSNet, and the instructions
say to add some executables to the inetd.conf... since MOSNet does not
have an inet daemon configuration named so, I was wondering if anyone
could tell me how to configure it correctly.

    Thanks!

As its still very much a "work in progress" I doubt that the functionality is available yet to support samba. I'm sure I've read that inetd is not implemented yet...?

I'm just greatfull that I can get online now without being disconnected every 30 mins.. ;o)

In the thread below there are some results using smbfs:

You dont need inetd for smbfs as its only a client.
For Samba itself u need inetd.

I have no problems using samba & mosnet.
i am running the inetd that was included in amitcpv4.3 after going online in the startnet script.

Its important for inetd amitcp that the assigns exist
    for example amitcp:db/inetd.conf
Best thing is to Assign AMITCP: MOSNET:
    and put the directorys there.

    Two questions:

Where can I get amitcp v4.3? (if possible to get it?)
I've tried to connect to a WIN XP64 computer, using:
    smbclient -L hostname -U%
    and get this error message:
    NT_STATUS_DUPLICATE_NAME
    Any ideas what this means?

    Thanks!

You only "need" Samba if u want to share ur data on the amiga to the network.

If u only want to connect from amiga to other samba/windows machines, smbfs does a real good job on my machines.

U also have to enable plain password over network for third party smb protocols (Dont know the exact sentence) on all ur windows machines,
    u want to access.

Do this with gpedit.msc on ur win machines

    @dIGIMAN:
Thanks for the info. I've read the smbfs readme that you linked, and I don't think it will work, since it tells you to use "smbclient -L host" to lookup the shared host services. Since smbclient gives me this error...

Thats to find out the shares but as its ur pc, u should know the shared folders
For example C$ is an share that is default on all Windows machines accessing the C drive.
    Here is my smbfs line:

    run >NIL: samba:bin/smbfs Workgroup=**** user=****** password=**** service=//pc2/c$ devicename=PC2_C

ofcourse ur have to type in ur workgroup, the username/password of ur windows admin account.
pc2 can be replaced by the ip adress of ur pc or enter it under etc:hosts

On XP its possbile to have accounts without Password. These have network access dissabled...
