I need a video player for MOS which can play back h264.
I have now over 2000 videos encoded with x264. :-)

Since halve a year MPlayer can play back h264.
But IMHO there was never an updated version for MOS.

Can you tell me if there is somewhere a new version which I've missed? BTW Who ported MPlayer to MOS?

Or will be the only way to see the movies install OS4emu and to run the OS 4 Mplayer? Will this work out of the box or is there anything to take care of?

    Cheers

it will work, but OS4 MPlayer lacks Overlay support.

    Hi,

anyone with an MZ account wanna point out to BigGun that although MPlayer has theoretically supported H264 for quite a while it only really became somewhat usable last month (and still has a few minor issues), so he needs latest CVS build ->

..and he can expect it to be shit-slow unless he disables the loopfilter (-lavdopts skiploopfilter=all)

    @ CISC (in IRC)

    FACT:
With MPlayer b7 (build 2005-03) running on MAC OS X I have watched hundrets of H264 movies flawlessly.

Its nice to hear that the recent MPlayer versions have improved.
But the old MPlayer was working perfectly for me for a quarter of a year now. Maybe my video files are somewhat more compatible? I don't know. But your claim that MPlayer was not useable for h264 before can't be true.

    Cheers

Are you surprised with your answer?

Of course it is "too buggy". That's the standard answer you
always get from anyone within the "MorphOS Team".

    "GCC 3+ is too buggy"
    "MPlayer is too buggy"
"MOS TCP Stack is too buggy"

    etc..
