It identifies a standard input device (HID class AFAIR). that's it. This class has a whole bunch of defined things (x-axis, y-axis, z-axis, buttons 1 - n, and so on) the tablet just tells the usb stack on which of this defined things it wants to have his stuff mapped. Thats it. Same for mices or joypads if they follow the USB standard.
Dunno what you mean with tcp/ip exactly.

But yes, poseidon 'influences' input.device and/or lowlevel.library.
