I want to purchase a sound card for my Pegasos 2 system, but I don't know what to buy.

What is your best sound card and why?

Where I will see different from the normal on-board AC 97?

Well, I might be totally wrong here, but afaik only emu10k is supported atm, so I guess any SBlaster Live would be good enough. I use one instead of the onboard sound because imho the quality is better and it handles volume much better. On the other hand, onboard sound seems good enough for most people.

Oh, and you get surround with the SBLive, but since I'm not using that, I can't report how good it is.

I think the SBLive! is the best card for the Pegasos at the moment. I use one myself and I am very happy with it.

Why?

* It's fully supported in AHI.
* With LiveMixer you can set 3D stereo sound and 6 channel support.
* Less CPU workload.
* Better sound quality.
* It's cheap.

BTW 6 channel sound support works great, I use it all the time. And in Debian you can enjoy Dolby Surround.

I have the Soundblaster Live! and the sound are good no noise, the ac97 a litle noise

So, I think SB Live! is your first option. I want to know something. I can install any sound card on Pegasos 2 or not?

I see SB Live 7.1 and SB Audigy 2. Will they work on Pegasos 2?

If your in the USA i have several SB live cards. You can have one free if you want it, well for the cost of shipping at least. Shouldnt be more then $10 or so.
