We need a firewire stack! One of many things that open the Amiga up in the US is the Toaster. Then came the Flyer of which I am still using today. Firewire will open that same markets to MorphOS and we need it! I would love to see MotionStudio and other software developed for Morph. When I read that some users do not see the need for firewire I am truly sad :-( . We need firwire as a though put to expand multimedia on our OS. Firewire is a standard video exchange. Apple, Sony and many other use it. Many DV cameras use it.

I have heard from a good source(bbrv) that Gary Saarf started the firewire port to MorphOS and he is still working on it.

We need to support his efforts! :-D

    hi memering

Your points are very accurate. Also, Gsaarf was supposed to have undertaken mos fw stack. However, I do not think he is actively working on it. It is NOT a one man effort. There is very low level amiga os stuff the programmer must know, so he would need help from laire or cyfm or someone, but dont know if thats going to happen any time soon.. :-/

ps.. your SCSI cards are on the way :-D

It's Gsarff, with two f's. Also, if anyone has the ability to go into a low level -- it's him. I can tell you that as of last month, he was researching the chipset used to provide the board with firewire capabilities, but beyond this I'm not sure where development is at. I do know that he is very capable of doing this stuff.

I'll check with him this week to see what's happening.

No problem ;-) gsarff has help if he wants it, of this I'm sure. If anything, I would suspect the biggest holdup is having time to work on things.
