How can i watch encrypted DVDs with MPlayer?
I knwo that MPlayer can show encrypted DVDs on Linux, is that possible under MOS???

This is a efect when I try to do this...

Yes in version 1.04 pre I can see this dvd, but only see. Voice and
video isn't synchronised!

Of course its possible in MOS. I have been playing ecyrpted DVD since mplayer came out with Peg!

Whats important is your drive. I recommend the LG 8161b drive for Mplayer/mos.

is there a new version of Mencoder with the new libdvdcss code of the 1.0pre4 mplayer ? Only with the new MPlayer I can watch DVDs on my DVD-Rom Drive.

@ magnetic: You are right with my NEC 3500 DVD Burner i can watch encrypted DVD without problems.

I can read DVDs with Mplayer 1.0 pre4
But mencoder does not work for me.
I've tried mencoder 0.91 and 1.0 pre3
both fail with "Error compiled without libdvdread support"

Any ideas ?

Its your drive..

You need a supported drive that will play encrypted dvd AFAIk

I recommend the LG 8161B

there are other drives that work.. search threads here on mz

Hi Magnetic,

I don't know I've tried three different DVD drives now. An LG 4081B, a Samsung and a Toshiba.
I can read with Mplayer but mencoder does not even work with one of the drives.


Maybe my mencoder version is just too old.
