    I installed Debian this week, and if you follow the default steps is not hard. Here is some help:

    Debian installation

    I used Gentoo before and well... yeah, it can be hard sometimes ^^;

    I've had similar frustrations. Ended up getting PegXLin and PegXMac to run MOL. Then gave up in frustration and got a real Mac. :) Now I'm hooked on OSX while I wait for MOS 1.5. Right now the Peg is in the closet. :-) :-D :-o

    At SNDF the image installer team showed a Linux installer. It works fine and it is very easy. I don't know where to get it but have a look at their website...

    A: Debian is installable via CD on Pegasos 2 ONLY with SARGE release, for now avaiable on "testing" directory:

    http://cdimage.debian.org/pub/weekly/powerpc/

    (Why everyone have forget to say what release is actually bootable?)

    USE THE INSTALLER INTO "POWERPC" DIRECTORY (vmlinuz-chrp.initrd), becouse is the only one wich run!

    If you encounter some problem, sometimes are a CD Image bad burn or a bad download. Better try to remake a 2 time the CD before think if is something into Pegasos to not work.

    B: Gentoo is well usable only if you have a serious internet connection. Portage need to costantly updated for mantaing it's packages, and if you haven't last release become HARD install something on it. Alternatively you must everytime manually install Portage on machine.
    Using Debian or Crux is lesser time-wasting if you don't have net connection.

    C: The last release of CruxPPC 2.0 seem have some problem to boot on Pegasos 2... :-o

    Oddly enough I'm in a Linux distro group who are targetting this area, it's only x86 at this point but I'll see about getting it onto the peg if / when i get hold of one.

    I'm in charge of the installer so if nothing else it should have the easiest Linux installer in the business.
