I'm trying for the first time to use a .torrent file with MLdonkey,
but dont know how to do it.

copy/paste the .torrent url into the mldonkey command bar..
(the input string on the top of the screen)

and then type: dllink before it:
e.g: dllink bla.bla.torrent

if succesfull, mldonkey will then inform you it started downloading the file

or...
use enqueuetorrent from tokai

I'll try latest version of mlDonkey (again).
In the past I didn't have much luck using mlDonkey for torrents.
Never could download with it.

i use mldonkey 99,5% for torrents. always worked for me. Do not forget to check your router/firewall settings, maybe you block something.

do i have to open/forward some ports on my firewall/router to be able to use bittorrent?

I read something about mldonkey needing gg:
So I tried it myself.

I commented out all the gg: assigns and rebooted
Next I started mldonkey and everything seemed okay.
But when I wanted to download a bittorrent it didn't do it
mldonkey says "done" but it didn't start

then I put back the gg: assigns and rebooted
and then mldonkey did download bittorrents

So aparentely you need the devenv to be able to use mldonkey for bittorrent

however, there is a program on aminet
which should be able to download torrents aswell (haven't tried it though)

what do you mean by gg: assign i only get the done by mldonkey and
nothing happend so can you explane how you did that for us.
