SFS error on partition

One of my partitions is now complaining with requesters. They read as follows:

Couldn't find empty node in NodeContainer at block 8310 while NodeIndexContainer indicated there should be one.

Is there a cure for this besides (attempting to) move all the data and reformatting it?

    SFS partitions are not repairable.
    1 + 1 = 3 with very large values of 1

No saving it, trust me I have tried. I recomend you move all the files you can save off and then format the drive a few time. Test it out and put back the files you were able to salvage. good luck. I have formated my drives all as FFS now and havent had a problem since.

IMHO, MorphOS would benefit from a new, native File System. If the Kernel is the brain of an OS, then the file system surely is its heart.
MorphOS is Amiga done right! :-)
MorphOS NG will be AROS done right! :-)

Perhaps one (the author of SFS?!) could code repair, defrag & salvage tools ?!

What's the use of having a great file system if you can't feel safe with it?

    Hasn't this been planned?

I know there is SFSSalv (direct download), and I used it few times, but it is buggy under MOS (as it is 68k and not MUI based) and not as efficient as it could be.

I'm still using SFS, as I can't stand being limited to 31-char filenames & partition validating. SFS suits my needs, except in case of crash.

Let's hope Frying Pan & BurnIt will be out soon, so I can backup those 120 gigs of precious data on DVDs ;)

[Oh, and I know it is possible with MakeCD, but it's not always working very well ;\]

I am not 100% sure, but I remember SFS "defragments on the fly", as in: takes care that data is written as continuosly as possible...?

There are plenty of defrag tools. One of them is my old SmartInfo (available from Aminet) but defragmenting is slow.

There are no repair tools because as I said, you can't repair SFS partitions.

What makes you think it's impossible?
