Could someone post a 'cut and paste' of the mouse section of their molrc.input file? I have been having a hell of a time getting my ps/2 mouse configured for full screen ops. Shouldn't be, but it's not as easy as it looks in the file.

    Thx.....

I always use xf86cfg to change such settings to my XF86Config-4 file.

And when i have a working mouse under X,
then i just edit the molrc.input to a simular
    config.

I used MarquiS' method.......the connection is as he says in his posting in this thread as is the protocol. Works like a charm now. Thanks!

Now, if I could only connect to the net under MOL I'd be happy. Everything else goes through my router transparently, but not the Mac....even with ipmasq and dnsmasq. OSX is asking me for a DHCP client id, and I have no idea what that is, nor does help help me.

    Regards....

    Hi,

I never could use a PS2 mouse on fullscreen mode. But if you have an USB mouse pluged, it will works properly ;-)

I didn';t have a problem with it.....just chose the device that MarquiS stated and the protocol, ps2. It worked from the start. What I can't understand is why MOL is starting in fullscreen mode anyway, I have that set to NO, but yet it starts in fullscreen mode. Crazy VM.

    Hi Harry --

You must be a real wizard because I haven't gotten full screen mode working quite the way I want yet.

I do have some tips for networking though.

    apt-get install dhcp
    mkdir /dev/net && mknod /dev/net tun0 10 200
Uncomment netdev: tun0 -tun in /etc/mol/molrc.net.
    chmod 0755 /etc/mol/tunconfig
Put the appropriate NAMESERVER= ip address in /etc/mol/tunconfig

I think that's it :) Now start mol. Open another xterm and execute /sbin/ifconfig -a. You will see the ip address for tun0. This is your GATEWAY address in mac os.

So when I set up networking in mac os, I always do a manual config.

IP Address: 192.168.40.100 (Make this up. Must be on the same net as your tun0 gateway.)
    Netmastk: 255.255.255.0
Gateway: 192.168.40.1 (This # is tun0's ip address.)
DNS Servers: Get them from /etc/resolv.conf

    Michael,

magnetic posted a link to a great website for networking mol but I still haven't gotten it started yet. OSX is asking for a DHCP client id. Have no idea what that is. I'm still running an old kernel (2.25.4-2), and that's probably why fullscreen is working.

    Thx. :-D

For DHCP - apt-get install dhcp

also what kernel you run has nothing to do with fullscreen video. I've run fullscreen and windowed with 2.4.24,2.4.25,2.6.4, and 2.6.6!

I also use my ps/2 mouse in fullscreen no prob..

Apparently, I'm not going to get through my router with the routine described on the web page. I'm going to need a dhcp server, as you mention magnetic, and sheep to use the Mac through the router. I got a response from Linksys telling me to ignore the dhcp client id field. Networking won't start no matter what I do with ipmasq and dnsmasq.

I have heard that a pci ethernet card will work reliably with MOL, more reliably and easier to config than the dns server and tun device. I have given up on that for the time being, I am getting nowhere. Is there a certain brand of ethernet card or should any work with Peg II?

    Hi Harry.

I just installed mac os 9 (again) today to demo it for somebody... Using the onboard ethernet.

For dhcp client id I just entered some junk... it shouldn't matter what you use.

Have you tried manual configuration from the mac os? You should be able to do something like:

    IP Address: 192.168.40.10
    Netmask: 255.255.255.0
Gateway: 192.168.40.1 (This corresponds with the address of tun0, check /sbin/ifconfig -a to verify)

I did not enter any nameservers in the configuration files.

There is more than one way to set this up, and that can cause some confusion... send me an email if you want me to paste some sections of my config files for you.

Thanks for the offer. I am using ipmasq and dnsmasq and have my tunconfig file edited to restart these before coming up. Supposedly, I should be, and the port says I'm connected. I am not however. I have tried just about everything I know to get this thing up. I wish it WERE simple. I'm using OSX right now and it shouldn't be this difficult. As a matter of fact, I had to reinstall Linux this morning and MOL as well. Still no luck.

    Thanks!
