MUI Console/Shell how to get coloured ls output

I've looked at some older topics but not getting any results.

I installed the 3.20 SDK and want to use ls --color=auto in the Shell to have colored output.
Tried setting LS_COLORS , tried changing the display emulation (Standard/ANSI/Xterm)

Echoing ANSI color sequences seems to work , neatvi shows a colored statusbar.

    Anybody got any tips ?

The gg bits may have been compiled with some of the stuff required for colors to work disabled. I've never played with this myself, but I'll try to find the time to see if it can be fixed for the upcoming SDK.

Something else I discovered was grep.

    When I do a Code:
     cat file | grep "searchterm"
using grep from the SDK (https://www.morphos-team.net/files/sdk-20260529.lha) , grep gives a standard input error and cat starts acting strange.

However if I use grep from here https://aminet.net/package/util/cli/grep-1.68
    it works without any issue.

Not complaining here just noticing this behaviour.

    Run 'sh' first.

Doh that works and now LS_COLORS work also.
Was under the assumption that the default MorphOS shell was a KSH shell.
Never too old to learn, thank you for the very usefull tip/hint.
