But obviously Wayfarer does not check if MorphOS 3.20 is installed because new versions are offered, although I have version 3.19 installed.

Technical explanation of why this happens: The Wayfarer you currently use runs on 3.19. When it sees a new update, it doesn't know that the new version requires MorphOS 3.20 to run.

This is the limitation of the current update check implemented in Wayfarer - which could be improved. However, such an improvement would not apply to currently installed versions retroactively. It'd only improve the situation going forward.

    Thanks for the explanation.
But then I would recommend that the new version/update checks the system/requirements before it actually installs. Otherwise it should abort.

Disable WebAssembly in Settings and you should be fine. I've reproduced the issue locally now and should have a fix in a day or two.

11.8 out now to fix the WASM crashes on CPUs other than a G5. This was caused by a mis-compile in the WASM BBQ JIT that (accidentally) emitted a valid but nonsensical instruction that the G5 supports, but other CPUs do not. Since my testing is usually done on a PMac G5 and in QEmu, I did not hit a crash in my own testing.

The QEmu bit is quite interesting, actually. It officially emulates a G4, but supports additional instructions + Altivec, so will silently run code it normally shouldn't be.

@ jacadcaps - didn't previous versions of Wayfarer allow creation of "New Directory" (Cmd+n), and the ability to Rename (Cmd + r) from the requesters, or has this just been changed (deliberately / inadvertently) in MorphOS v3.20? :-?

I often find the need to add a directory as I want to save a file into a new directory, or I might want to rename a file so there is no duplicately named file in the same directory, but currently I have to go back to Ambient to the specific directory and carry out the process there, due to being unable to do it via the requester, which i was previously able to do that way. :-(

Also, this v3.18 seems significantly faster than any previous version of Wayfarer (I didn't get chance to use 11.6 or 11.7 - you were too quick to release them before I replaced v11.4, or even got chance to use 11.5).

In fact it seems about as quick as my current Samsung Tablet Android 5 system. Though I have other newer Android Tablets to choose from, but the Samsung is virtually a day-to-day driver for me, when I'm not using my much preferred MorphOS systems! 8-)

Thx Jaca, Discord is now working on Powerbook G4 with WebAssembly activated!
And I'm agree with NewSense, those last versions are pretty fast in comparison with olders ones. Congratulations!

@ jacadcaps - Is it possible to keep a tab constantly active, even if the tab is not the active tab, with v11.8JIT? :-?

I find that at least one page I access that usually updates itself after a few minutes, and after a few non-responses (due to the tab being automatically hibernated) the page has to be signed back into, even if the page has only been hibernated (automatically) for some 30 minutes, so that can be quite annoying having to keep signing back in due to this feature in v11.8, whereas earlier versions of Wayfarer did not automatically hibernate all tabs apart from the currently active one.

On many tabs this would not make a difference but the ones that re-check that they are still logged into, but find there is no response then log me out with v11.8JIT.

If there was an option in settings for a specific webpage-link to keep one or 2 tabs as constantly active even if they are not the currently active tab would be very helpful, well they would be for me. 8-D

I was going to add that . . . surely if you are dehibernating a tab, then surely you are also going to be making it the active tab, so logically dehibernating a tab should also make that tab the active tab, so it does not go back to being dehibernated by the program in a matter of moments? :-?

Then - I noticed that after I had encountered a run away with Wayfarer v11.8 JIT (+WASM) where nothing was responding but the CPU and the associated fans were "racing themselves into oblivion", so I had to do a switch off-reboot.

[EDIT] - I have had a few of these non responding Wayfarer/CPU racing scenarios with v3.18 JIT - anyone else? :-?

Fortunately, it seems, I had also deactivated the WebAssembly feature in Settings prior to that runaway. So, when I rebooted I was able to keep all the tabs active, or deactivate just the ones I wanted to be hibernated, so maybe my above question and query are unnecessary, though having an option to keep some (1 or 2, or more?) tabs activated, rather than have them all hibernated by Wayfarer with WebAssembly active might still be a good idea?

Disabling WASM globally may improve your RAM situation a bit. Few websites actually require it and it may or may not necessarily be faster than JavaScript. Tabs get hibernated as a last resort when you're very low on RAM. The alternative to that would be quitting.

@ jacadcaps - did you see my question in comment #1905 about the "New Directory" and "Rename" features in the requester menu options now missing in the Wayfarer, and it also seems to be missing in the other Ambient, and obviously other screens opened for other programs!?

Is it worth sending in a bug report to MorphOS HQ to raise this issue?

I hadn't noticed that my RAM was low, as it was around 500MB free at the time of these moments when Wayfarer "hibernated" the tabs. With the WASM deactivated it doesn't occur as often, but it does still occur even when I have about the same or even more RAM available (free)! :-?

I also tried to update my phone's SIM via its service supplier's website, but there seems to be a field that does not display, that allows me to input the actual mobile phone number that I am needing to modify/update. The checkboxes to confirm the action, and that I have input the correct mobile phone number are displayed and work OK, and the confirmation and cancel operation buttons are shown correctly, but without the number being input then the process does not complete via the service's website. So, do you think you could fix this if I send you more details via email, or will it be unfixable with you not being able to access the page, as it requires initial secure login to a UK based mobile service provider which Wayfarer can handle, and then accessing the update SIM page which is where the problem exists?

Wayfarer has never had any New Directory or Rename features in requesters of its own. That's part of ASL and is still there when you press the right mouse button over a file requester.

That is what I expected you to say I suppose, but in quite a few programs recently, including Wayfarer, I have pressed the (Cmd+n) keys and nothing happened when I wanted to create a new directory, and the same occurred with Rename (Cmd+r).

In fact when I used the right mouse key and opened the drop/pull-down menu those options were nowhere to be seen in the ASL requester . . . which is why I asked the question! :-?

Any idea why they are not appearing reliably in my v3.20 system now?

Sometimes I get the "New Drawer" (Cmd+n) option, and not the Rename option, and sometimes its the other way round. Though I can't remember the last time they both appeared at the same time in the ASL requester for when I am downloading files, and need to create a New Drawer or need to Rename a file On-The-Fly.

I currently, more often than I like, have to go back to Ambient and do what I need to change, and then go back to Wayfarer, or other programs I have running, where those ASL requester option(s) did not get offered! :-(

Nope. I've tested the hotkeys locally and they work as expected in a regular asl. Rename will only appear when you have a file/drawer selected.
