I´m looking for a program which plays samples on a keystroke.
Multiple samples to choose from which will play with a keystroke for my summerparty to live things up.

You can simply use the Play command that comes along with MorphOS and add a keyboard shortcut to Ambient via keyboard settings with a command like this to play a sample:

    Code:

    Play >nil: mossys:data/SoundEffects/Schooner.aiff

Or if you want something fancier, it shouldn't be too hard to make a simple program, which could have an editable list of samples in a window with definable hotkeys for each sample, or something like that. I could take a look if there isn't a similar program available and you would like the idea...

    Thanks!
Works for me would be nicer if I had a fancy program like you discribed.

Would it be enough to have the samples played when the program window is active? So that hotkeys would only work inside the program, but not globally if you're using other apps?

On my Site you can find a simple Soundplayer in Beebase. Not a fancy look, but hey, it works.
The program uses Sox as player.
You can easily change the program to your need.
You can find it here: https://tommaaktmuziek.nl/Beebase/Soundplayer.bbs
Don´t forget to install Beebase first
Let me hear when you find the program useful.

Didn't have as much time as I hoped, but here's the first test version. Made in a hurry and haven't tested it thorough, and still some ideas to implement. But as I don't have time for it in the next days, I'll share it for you now :)

    Download beta

Nice one jPV, seems to do the job well!

EDIT: heh, just spotted weird bug: added sounds, removed them, added new sounds...and the old (previous) sounds are played instead of the listed new sounds ;)

    Hehe, nice. :)

Now, add big square buttons with pictures + keyboard shortcut and make a soundboard! If only we had touchscreens. :)

Here's the second beta, introducing the Soundboard mode... bugs fixed, about all feature requests implemented, and maybe some new bugs introduced. Thanks for the feedback to everyone!

If anyone is willing to make some graphics for me, please let me know. I could use two default images for the Soundboard mode for both "Music" and "Sample", something that doesn't look too messy when scaled to different dimensions... maybe 500x500 as the original size. And a better program icon would be nice too... the idea behind my current quickly made icon is that DongDing means an "icy peak" (as in mountain) in Chinese, and as audio data has peaks too, so something combined :)

    Changelog 0.2:
    - Removed files are flushed to avoid playing a "cached" file
    - User activity during loading doesn't mess things up anymore
    - AVCodec plugin required for better compatibility, other plugins are loaded if found
    - Playlists can be loaded by drag&drop
    - Directories can be drag&dropped onto the window to load files recursively
    - Settings can be saved
    - A file, directiory, or playlist can be added at startup by the file argument or icon tooltype
    - Added a button panel to add, remove, and move entries in the list
    - State column tells when a sample is being loaded or if it's loaded into the memory already
    - Added the Loops option to select how many times a music/sample is played
    - List can be sorted by clicking column titles
    - Added the Soundboard fullscreen display mode (ctrl-hotkey stops playing in this mode), clicking the icon in the program window opens the fullscreen display
    - Images can be configured for the Soundboard mode, otherwise the program tries to read embedded images from MP3, FLAC, and Ogg Vorbis files, or show default images
