I have been using CE' PiMiga for some time and he has Term setup for BBS access, this does not seem to work with MorphOS (telser.device), i was gonna try and set this up but i was wondering if anyone uses a better/newer application or a guide for this?

ANSI colors should work when you configure the program to run on its own screen (disable Options->Use Workbench, configure Settings->Screen mode). If it's run on WB/Ambient, then it uses some boring system pens. "Works for me" at least on Amiga (hosted) BBSes.

I did follow your earlier guidance to use it on an 800x600 screen rather than having it load on the desktop/workbench screen, i just didn't have any colours, i will try other BBS's and see how it goes, thanks for the help!

    8, 15/16 or 24bit?

    Might make a difference.

You can have the desktop (Ambient) screen in 1080p/24bit no problem, but just select 800x600x8bit in the DCTelnet screen settings (and don't use it on "Workbench").

Another option is to configure DCTelnet to open on a 1920x1080x8bit screen, but then you have to set the Width and Height manually to 800 and 600 instead of the default values. Then it opens another screen in the same resolution as your desktop screen, but limits drawing area which fixes the program's issue with bigger resolutions.
