Hi,
I noticed that on the same websites I get much slower DL speed compared to OWB.
E.g. I went to https://anydesk.com/en/downloads/linux and with OWB I get ~3.5-4.5 Mb/s, while in OWB it never goes above 800 Kb/s.
Another, even more extreme example is if you go to https://todoist.com/downloads (OWB doesn't display this page correctly but one can still DL the file) and try to DL an app for Windows 10 (65 Mb). In OWB I get 12.1 Mb/s Dl speed, in Wayfarer it never goes above 830 Kb/s. I also measured the time needed to download, just to eliminate that two browsers are actually calculating DL speed differently but OWB DL took a couple of secs while WF DL took more than minute (more like minute and a half) so there is definitely a huge difference.

Is there smth that can be configured to improve the DL speeds in WF or is this a bug?

My config is:
PMAC 11,2 Quad 2.5
Radeon X1950
2 GB RAM
RTL8168-based network card
MOS 3.18

Can cofirm 800kB/s for OWB, but Wayfarer loads here with 1077kB/s. (https://anydesk.com/en/downloads/linux)

the memory connexion can be change in prefs networks but i don t known if that change the speed
else/
security puzzle with morphos 3.18 and wayfarer 5.3 not work
use withcleaner before to use wayfarer but sometimes the security puzzle not work

The problem with the download speed still occurs (Wayfarer 6.0)
Tested with the MorphOS iso from the official site.

I can confirm - no change in download speeds. OWB still runs rings around it.

2. OWB, max speed reached 1,2 Mb/s; DL time ~18 secs

@jacadcaps any suggestions what to do to improve DL speeds with Wayfarer? Right now, although WF is functionally better due to DL speeds, it's feeling slower.

Oh yes. I had the same problem with the new HDD + filesystem and I noticed it just as I was downloading to Ram: and not to HDD. But it's very strange and I don't really want to believe it:) Link

information for hdd:
for sfs partition it s better too for hdd to be not 512 but 1024 and either 2048 bloc
when you edit the partition then format it and install morphos

I have a similar issue.

Im on a gigabit lan but my macmini seems to navigate at 10mb :/

We should all do some testing, i have also always gotten quite slower transfers on MorphOS, but now got a new network (again) and can test later.. But we should all have a common test and info we gather to do a proper test on several machines.. Wget ? Axel ? Any best tool use to max test the bandwith possible before doing testing with more complex software ?

Best tool I found for comparison of speed of TCP stack is TCPSpeed.

But it says nothing about speed of browser download. For this I suggest to install Apache / NGINX / MS IIS on local LAN and test download. Also many home routers can serve as web server.
Measure speed through internet providers gives you "real" numbers which are inaccurate due to the transmission route. Of course, measuring through provider is better than no measuring, but you have to keep in mind, that there are many other influences than browser.

@Mabo,

The macmini has ethernet 10 mbits/100 mbits. What is the category of the ethernet cable you use ? Search on it what is written. If it is lower than category 5 that can or could explain why the speed you obtain is only 10 mbits. So change it for an ethernet cable category 5 or 6 and then you would or will obtain a speed of 100 mbits.

I was able to dl a Debian ISO file at 29MB/s using Wayfarer 6.1 via a local socks5 proxy.
