    Hi MorphUnity!

First I want to congratulate myself for beeing for exactly 1 year a pegasos user. (yeah got my peg1 on 03-Apr-03) :-D

But now back to the topic, which is actually a sad story so far. MorphOS has a nice skinning feature for Intuition. But until today I know only about 2 released skins by users (besides the official skins):

there is the ofour skin by Bladrunner (which is downloadable here on morphzone) and the tokai skin (yes, I made it... hence the name :-) ) which is available here.

Like I said in the intro: I'm now with MorphOS since a year. I know a lot people in this community, some also with actual talent in graphics. So why in the last 12 months only 2 skins are released? That's 1 skin per 1/2 year. A bad quote IMHO.

Come on! Release your stuff and contribute to the MorphUnity! I did my part of this already, so now I want that you do your part too. Don't be shy...

Thanks for your attention! I hope we'll see now some more skins in the next days.

    regards,
    tokai

Congradulations Tokai on your one year anneversery!

Now, to the meat of the problem! We have a distinct difference between a "skin" and some graphics. Not all artists desire to fool with the various settings to make a skin.

In this vein, I propose we have some of our creative folks pull together to create the MorphOS Skin Template and Kit! Something to make it easier for all the Morphers out there to use to make their own skin.

    :-)

Nice initiative. I've seen the OSX Skin, the WinXP skin, and Elena's skin on MZ but they havent been released! It would be really cool to have a nice skin section here..

Well, I am currently working on a Homepage Project, Codename "Ambientstyle"
I am planing to collect all the Amibient releated Stuff there, as Skins, Icons, Wallpapers etc.

Unfortunately I am very busy at the moment, So there is not much progress.. And I am working on two other skins, so stay tuned...

Anyway, it would be realy cool to have some feedback: So far I got only two mails, in which i was reminded to change the install path from mossys: to sys (thank you henes, jacadcaps for the hint).
No I am not begging for mails, but hey.. 116 Downloads at least here on Morphzone (no idea how much from Aminet) and than just 2 Mails?
(Ok there is even a good part on this, so long no one was requesting a version for smaller screenmodes :D )

    Hooligan:
    Hope you enjoy ofour :-)

I might just as well comment here. The OS4 skin is good, but I had to change text color of inactivated window to darkgrey as it was just plain horrible.
Also I'd like to have darkblue for inactivated windows, instead of brown. If you can make this happen I could even stick to this skin and not go for Ferox again :)

I still think it would be a good idea to have some kind of template where all is explained ;-)

With that, more people would tinker with their own skins.

    Hi,
I'm not graphic designer, but I did a skin in Winxp looking on only a weekend. It's not perfect but it's nice and I want tell it's easy to do skin for morphos.

I like a lot Oh four.

Would be nice to have OS 1.3 and OS 3.0 skins for nostalgic people like me ;-).
    I'll try to do them.

I can send to everyone by email my try for WinXP skin.
    bye

Well 1 mail per 100 downloads is actually a GOOD response-quote
(my experience), heck I even once tried to write mail to an specific
user, but never got an reply.

    Oh wait, why am I telling YOU that? :-P :-o ;-) :-D

I started doing my own skin, finished a few buttons and nice colours for menus, but ended up using one of "ready" skins with some of my own colour settings....

BUT should I ever finish my skin, I surely will release it to the public...

Let me "chime in" from the "peanut gallery" here (those of us still on the outside looking in)

I haven't a clue how its accomplished in morphOS, BUT, I can definitely give my opinion of "skinning" using MUI 3.8
There are so many cryptic and tweakable options in there, and there isn't enough clear, concise, simple documentation explaining GUI elements on Workbench.
So, as I find myself a patient individual, skinning
an MUI exceeds the limit of my patience. So *default* is the rule.
I am ; therefore you are

Well, that's why we would need more pre-defined skins...

    Kronos:
Well yes.. what could I say.. err.. hum you are right, shame on me.. was a hard time for me.. But hopefully back on the Road again ;-)

    Hooligan:
Well ok, let`s see what I can do.
I have made a first "darkblue Version" but i have to repaint every single button for this :-(
    So stay tuned ;-)
Ah btw, I`ve seen your Screenshot on A.org
Pleeeeease change the values for WINDOWTITLETEXTSHIFT or choose a bigger Font ;-)
I might change this as well for the ofour hooligan edition, but for now you should do this yourself, because this cropped windows looking.. well.. very ugly ;-)
