Gmail IMAP with 68k SimpleMail. Celebrations short-lived.

    Thought I'd give the 68k version of SimpleMail a try with my Gmail account, using IMAP. To my surprise and delight, it worked. And it seemed to work pretty well. It quickly loaded up my Gmail folders and I was able to browse through my inbox and send out messages.

    Then I started to hit some snags.

    1) Moving emails between folders (e.g. Inbox and my Archive folders) seems temperamental and then this doesn't appear to be reflected when I check emails again in the web client.
    2) Similarly, deleting emails (either by dragging the email to the Delete folder in SimpleMail, or my Gmail "Bin" folder, configured as the delete location in gmail) doesn't register as deletes in gmail as far as I can see (i.e. checking the web client, the emails are all still there).
    3) It crashes regularly - requiring a reboot of the machine.

    Anyone had more luck or can offer any tips? Thanks!

    What you do on an e-mail client does not effect your online mail account.
    If you set up Simplemail to delete your mails after downloading them, then
    thats the only way to handle your online mail account with Simplemail.
    For this you have to enter the config menu and enable delete emails inside
    your account settings.

    I think you're thinking of pop3? Imap allows you to read, delete, move files directly on the mail server - or at least it has in the mail clients I have used for imap.

    * Full POP3 and SMTP Server support
    * Limited IMAP server support

    I was indeed thinking about POP3 - I was able to log in with IMAP, but it has as in the description Limited support.
