Booting fails

It seems my Pegasos hangs on booting MorphOS from my harddisk. The hardware is ok, I've partitioned, formatted and installed. When doing the boot /pci/ide/disk@0,0:0 boot.img I get the Quark/OpenFirmware line and nothing more happens.

This is with a brand new Pegasos 2 G4 with the 1.1 firmware and the MorphOS CD I got in the package.

The first partition is a boot (FFS) partition and second one is the morphos partition (SFS) , the disk is master on the first IDE interface, and the CDROM is slave.

    I'm out of ideas. Anyone?

I could always repartition and try again.. (The partitioning tool didn't offer the same luxury of ignorance which I'm used to from BeOS. I'm sure you hardcore Amigans love it.. ;)

Sure it is using 512B blocksize as it should? Otherwise it won't work...

I had exactly this behaviour, and discovered that I had forgotten to set the drive "mask" correctly when preparing the drive (you have to set it to 0xfffffffe (as well as ensuring that the image partition is bootable). You then have to format after doing this.

Hope this helps (apologies if you have already tried this...)

It could be a master/slave conflict. Set it manually on both the HDD
and CD-ROM (instead of using cable select). If that doesn't work, try
putting both units as masters on their own respective IDE channel.
MorphOS is Amiga done right! :-)
MorphOS NG will be AROS done right! :-)

you are sure you set the boot flag right?

you FFS boot partition must have no boot flag and
the morphos partition must have the boot flag!

you also can try to boot in the OF the following way
    boot /pci/ide/disk@0,0:0 boot.img bootdevice=dh0

    Yes, that's it!

Seems the Peg 2 Instruction Manual, Rev. 1.02 has it the wrong way around in the table on page 15.

I'm booting MorphOS successfully from disk now.

Currently fighting the System Settings to set a higher refresh mode. :P My Sony Multiscan G400 isn't in the list.
