I can boot the Efika Install image just fine off of my trusty 1Gb USB stick.

I copied the MorphOS image into the System folder. The odd thing is though is once I am into MorphOS and get to the screen where I am asked to choose between New Install and Update, the mouse slows down for a minute and then the Installer locks saying "Application is Meditation at the top."

The easiest way to update the efika is to use the full size ISO. Just grab the bootefika.img from ISO and store it on your usb stick and copy the the iso to sys:. Remember the device name of sys: e.g. dh0:

Now go to open firmware and boot the new boot image like you did with the other one and add "bi dh0:morphos.iso".

The system will now boot the iso like a CDROM and you can install just as you would on any other system.

I have to use the command "boot scsi:0 install.img"

What should I add to that exactly, I.E. how should it look?

Typed this a few days ago (IIRC):

    boot hd:0 boot.img bi=dhx:morphos39.iso

With the assumption you copied the 3.9 boot img from the iso to your partition 0 of the hd. dhx is the harddisk you copied the the 3.9 iso to (probably dh1 or dh2.

Wow, I had no idea that the Efika boot image wasn't even required after the first install!

So anyhow, I used "boot hd:0 boot.img bi=dhx:morphos39.iso" and I am now at the part where the cursor is flashing underneath the bits about CPU0:

It's been like that for about 5 minutes now.

And it's still hanging, cursor is blinking, but nothing is happening.

I'm going to install the Efika Book image onto the hard drive and see if it will work correctly that way.

Same results booting the Efika image off HD:0. Stuck at the blinking cursor.

I tried to boot it off another USB, but again, the system got slow and I was never able to press the UPDATE button.

Never had this issue with previous releases. Do I need to update to 3.8 first? I'm on 3.7.

Umm.. did you copy the new boot.img from the 3.9 ISO as suggested couple of times here? Old boot.img files aren't compatible with different version of the OS anymore. They used to be, but nowadays their versions have to match or system won't boot properly.

And you changed that "x" to correct number in that command line for sure?

    No.

This is the behavior when the boot.iso was not found.

Check if the boot device (DH1:, HD1:, or what use used during install) and the iso name is correct. Use the shell command "info" or the ambient file information requester to display the device name.

Also make sure you are using the bootefika.img from that iso.

I always suggest to use bootiso.img and boot.iso as names to avoid problems and always have a recovery couple at hand, which exact name you know to launch from OF, if - at some point in the future - something goes wrong with your install.

Well I re-downloaded the file, did the same thing. This time I noticed it said it was booting MorphOS 3.7... then it rebooted and tried to boot off the HD again.

And yes, this is certainly the new boot image.

It gets to a white screen with mouse pointer, and then... reboots.
