I did a serious test and moved all my thousands of mails to
Simplemail. I also think Simplemail is impressive, but it was not
ready for me when I did my test, and I don't think it is now.
My biggest gripe was that SM insisted on colouring text in my emails
and also when writing replies. Some of these colours could be changed,
but some of them were not possible to change either in SM or in MUI.
As some things were totally unreadable (something like yellow text on
gray background or such iirc) this made SM unusable so far (even
ignoring that I don't want emails to look like christmas trees even
if its technically possible to read them)..
Another problem was that it's very slow compared to YAM. When you have
thousands of mails in each folder this makes the decision easy.
I also like YAM better because I can have a textured background when
writing mails. I've gotten used to having a slightly textured "paper"
pattern and plain-coloured makes me feel uncomfortable now.
Anyway, YAM also has its flaws, most important for me is the way it
just hangs for a while when it doesn't manage to connect, and
meanwhileit will also not redraw its window due to lazy programming. I
guess that sooner or later SM will be the better program, but for now
I'm staying with YAM.
