Did you ever wonder... how your memory looks like when it is fragmented like hell?

Well... now you can with the funky new "Fragment" tool, which you can download from here for free:

    http://tokai.binaryriot.org/fragment-1.2-200710210444.lha

There is no documentation, but it should be quite self-explaining.

Wrote it yesterday for my own pleasure and interest. It's probably not very useful, but I share anyway. If you have questions, feature requests or bugreports let me know here in this very thread. Maybe I'll answer, add or fix them if I'm in the mood. ;)

    Hoppla,

a tiny release, just wrote this today for my own personal needs. Maybe useful for someone else too (no idea).

    Freeze 1.1 for MorphOS

    Introduction

Freeze is a small commandline command to freeze (suspend) tasks or processes. A frozen task is still available in the system, but doesn't consume CPU time anymore.

Freezing a task can be useful if the task misbehaves (e.g. if the task starts to busyloop and does not let have other tasks a turn frequently enough and hence renders the system unusable).

There are similiar tools available already. F.ex. iKill (comes with MorphOS 2.0) can be used for the same purpose. But iKill needs an intution window to find the task, so does not work at all for window-less tasks. Further the well-known system monitor Scout offers in its tasklist window the possibility to freeze and activate tasks, but in case of a busyloop situation Scout can takes ages to load and initialize before it's possible to freeze a misbehaving task.

Freeze can be used from commandline and without any mouse interaction. It's very small and does not require any extra dependecies. It should load even in a worst case situation relatively fast.

To find a PID of a task or process the tasklist command (also provided by MorphOS 2.0) can be utilized from the commandline easily.

    Example

    > Tasklist MisterBanana
pid address type pri state 68kstack/used ppcstack/used name
    2217 0x261760A0 proc 0 wait 4096/100 32764/1712 MisterBanana

    > Freeze 2217 VERBOSE
    Task <2217, MisterBanana> successfully freezed.

    Hoppla,

A new OpenTTD release after a very long time. Must be some evil magic making this possible.

Please note this release should work fine on 1.4.x still (not tested though).

I probably switch very soon to MorphOS 2.0 features (shared z.library, png.library and so on) to make the releases easier to maintain for me personally. So if someone still needs MorphOS 1.4.x compatibility then he has to do own builds with static link libraries, I guess. Just as info. If there is *really* *high* demand for 1.4.x compatibility I might keep stuff static for now... all depends on feedback...

For more information and downloads please visit http://www.openttd.org.

If you like to support further OpenTTD releases for MorphOS and motivate me in this regard (I haven't played OpenTTD myself for years now, because I don't have the time. And OpenTTD code has become evil C++ mess which I really dislike. So... I'm not doing this ports for myself after all. ;-) ) you'll find a nifty Paypal button at the bottom of my homepage: http://www.binaryriot.de/releases/index.php?lang=en. :-D

    Happy Tycoon'ing!

tokai the solo entertainer is back... with another release probably noone will use anyway. :-)

    Hoppla,

Debug 1.1 for MorphOS 2.0 is a small commandline tool to enable/ disable Exec debug flags from the commandline. Just like you can do in "System Settings > Debug".

This can be useful if you want to handle this from a shell script or something (f.ex. I have a shell script which puts my MorphOS into a more powerful debug state if required (activates invzeropage, starts extra debugtools like mungwall, etc.), so I don't have to run all the slowing-down extra debug stuff all the time).

Well... this is mostly useful for developers or experienced power users which want to help developers. ;-)

As usual the archive is available on my homepage:
    http://tokai.binaryriot.org/public/debug-1.1.lha

And another one (completly untested like last OpenTTD build, but analogkid said it works for him, so if something fails please blame him for not properly testing my builds ;-) ).

Did you ever wonder where the hell all the CON tasks come from? Yes? Now you easily can find out with:

    TaskTree 1.3 for MorphOS

TaskTree is an informative command line utility printing out a current list of tasks in a hierarchic structure showing possible parent-child relations. That way it is possible to see which task launched another.

Registered Shuffle users had them in the Shuffle release archive, but somehow they were missed in the MorphOS 2.0 version of Shuffle (actually there is no really good place to install them on the ISO, so they get skipped. ;) )

Maybe someone has some fun with it. Usage instructions at the top of the scripts.

Okay.. just dumping some recent build to the public as it might be useful for someone. Some feedback by some ppl who actually need/ use it could be useful...

    Git 1.6.0.2 for MorphOS

Git is a fast, scalable, distributed revision control system with an unusually rich command set that provides both high-level operations and full access to internals.

Git is an Open Source project covered by the GNU General Public License. It was originally written by Linus Torvalds with help of a group of hackers around the net. It is currently maintained by Junio C Hamano.

The MorphOS port was quickly done and is not well tested yet, so there might be tons of problems still. I don't know. I don't even know how the beast works or what it is really good for as I didn't read any documentation myself yet. I only needed it to checkout some source from a git repository and that worked just fine for me. :-)

Please note the archive contains various links, so it was packaged with tar and not lha as usual. If you have problems with the links, there is a script included which can fix them properly. See also README.MorphOS inside the archive for more information.

As usual the archive is available on my temporary-just-dump-random-stuff webpage:

A new build of OpenTTD for MorphOS is available at http://www.openttd.org/ (if the file is not online yet, then please download it directly from sourceforge.net in the meanwhile... always can take a while before it gets added).

    What's new?

    0.6.3-RC1 (2008-09-22)
    ------------------------------------------------------------------------
    - Fix: Invalid v->u.air.targetairport could cause crashes at several places [FS#2300] (r14383, r14344, r14343)
    - Fix: Moving the first vehicle of a train elsewhere might require a new unitnumber for the remaining chain which might not be available (r14384)
    - Fix: Trams jumping when reversing on a single trambit (like caused during road construction reworks) or when (manually) reversing in a corner [FS#1852] (r14371)
    - Fix: Multiheaded parts in free wagon chains weren't connected (could cause desyncs) (r14366, r14362)
    - Fix: [Win32] Some keypress combinations could be handled twice [FS#2206] (r14363)
    - Fix: The ownership of roadtiles was not properly set for very old savegames (including TTD's) making it impossible to remove some pieces of road [FS#2311] (r14359)
    - Fix: Desync due to randomly ordered vehicle hash by flooding and road vehicle overtake/following (r14356, r14258)
    - Fix: Signs were not updated on company bankrupcy/sell, and thus could have the colour of invalid player (r14348)
    - Fix: Delete the RenameSignWindow when 'its' sign is deleted (r14345)
    - Fix: Signs from old savegames were lost (causing little memory leaks) (r14340)
    - Fix: When a company was renamed and then manager was renamed before building anything, company name changed (r14328)
    - Fix: When you rename a town before building something and build something near that town your company would be called "<old townname> Transport" [FS#2251] (r14327)
    - Fix: Free any blocks that a helicopter may have on an oilrig when the helicopter gets forcefully removed (bankruptcy). For other airports this isn't needed as they can't be used by multiple companies [FS#2241] (r14324)
    - Fix: Possible assert when renaming removed waypoint (r14322)
    - Fix: Properly delete orders so the pool doesn't fill up (r14319)

    - Fix: The vehicle window of articulated road vehicles would show the clone/refit button when the vehicle was not completely stopped in the depot (r14090)
    - Fix: Flawed parsing of words (as in 2 bytes) in GRF strings due to sign extension [FS#2228] (r14087)
    - Fix: Division by 0 in NewAI [FS#2226] (r14062)
    - Fix: NewGRF callback 23 did not use the NewGRF compatible text stack [FS#2224] (r14058)
    - Fix: NewGRF text stack's "push word" didn't move the data around properly (r14057)
    - Fix: Long strings in the edit box would cause OpenTTD to stop drawing the string. This is especially noticable with low resolutions and the chat input box (r14054)
    - Fix: [OSX] changed the condition for selecting 8 or 32 bpp blitter by default. Now we will pick 32 bpp if no 8 bpp fullscreen resolutions are available on the main display (the one with the dock) (r14032)
    - Fix: Crash when the AI tries to find the depot of an airport that doesn't have a depot [FS#2190] (r13999)
    - Fix: MSVC cannot handle changed files in the prebuild event, so make the version determination a separate subproject [FS#2004] (r13998)
    - Fix: The dedicated console removed any character that was not a printable ASCII character instead. Now it allows UTF8 formated strings too [FS#2189] (r13992)
    - Fix: Resetting construction stage counter reset more than it should (r13981)
    - Fix: Wrong tooltip for the industry directory's list [FS#2178] (r13917)

Since I'm too demotivated to do any real coding currently I did something else for a change and opened a google group (aka mailing list) for support enquiries (questions about installation or usage, bug reports, feature requests, etc.) related to my releases.

You can subscribe to it by sending an email to binaryriot+subscribe@googlegroups.com or by visiting http://googlegroups.com/group/binaryriot/subscribe

    regards,

BTW, when is the default morph.zone skin getting fixed? It looks highly broken with that slow and forced fixed size horizontal gradient crapola in any browser. Targhan? :-)

In the no-so-surprisingly, but always fruity Tokais web page, between other bits
there is a new build of the MlDonkey.

    Try it out by yourself

Thanks Tokai! Natmeg has also ported version 3.0.0 some weeks ago. I see that this port is 1.6MB smaller, so i suppose that it's more optimized and that will allocate a little less memory.

According to analogkid, tokai told that the size difference originates from the iconv.lib being statically linked to naTmeg's port while his port uses the shared iconv.library.

Okay, it's time to revive this thread from the grave... Halloweeeeen! (or too late?)

For some reason I had to fix bunch of my posts here; seems the system decided to convert all screenshots to plain and boring links for some reason. :-(

Well... here a new release.. rather useless as usual. A MorphOS native re-implementation of BetterBalance.mcc.

    @tokai

I think you over did the excitement factor by adding Mr Banana ;-)
