Classic Apps Screwing up Gamma

    I'm running MOrphOS 3.2 on an Efika with Radeon 9800.

    Aside of the audio popping on nearly everything, the other issues I have is that some classic Amiga apps cause the gamma to screw up until reboot, though this seems pretty random. Usually it happens, once in a blue moon it does not.

    The main culprits are PPaint 7 and Digibooster.

    Any tips? Thanks in advance!

    I haven't used PPaint or DigiBooster on MorphOS 3.2 at the moment, but Final Writer also exhibits some weird behaviour when it's run under MorphOS - having a dark/black background so you can't see any text you type unless you fiddle quite a bit with the preferences, what is happening there I'm not sure, and whether it can be fixed is another matter, but Wordworth 6 seems to work OK for me.

    I can't get PageStream 4 to work either as the fonts are just not recognised, something weird is going on there also I feel. The program starts OK. and the menus all show - except for the TYPE menu, which affects TEXT, so not really surprising if you can't get the fonts to work then it's logical that the system won't allow you to enter that menu - but it's weird, and I wish it was fixed, as that's one of my favourite programs from the Amiga days, and there's nothing that comes close to it on MorphOS at the moment, which is a pity.

    I just loaded up King's Quest VI under ScummVM. It also caused my gamma to screw up, forcing me to reboot.

    EDIT: Odamex also does this, it's not just classic apps for me.

    @NewSense

    Use Screen type = Workbench which will give you a grey background

    @XDelusion sorry, I haven't fired up my efika in a while now. I would test, but I have a different graphic card, and don't have the software you described.

    Xyphoid: Some of the software I listed is freeware, I.E. Odamex in conjunction with Freedoom. Or ScummVm and some of the games it supports.
    I'd love to see your results on a different video card if you got time.
