When I try to watch a video with mplayer and use a subtitle file .srt it doesn't synchronise correctly.
Is this a known problem,or is there something I can do to change this behaviour?
I tried to alter the delay but I don't seem to be getting it right.

Ah, but there can be two reasons for desynchronization:

    a) your computer is too slow, mplayer can't cope decoding the files, even with framedrop enabled
    b) the srt file is not for the movie file you are watching, which can also mean two things: either it's start position is wrong (in which case you can fix this by adjusting subtitle delay) or it is for a different version of the movie and there's no chance you'll get it in sync easily

So, which one is it? :) Do the files play OK on another platform (with a faster CPU) ?

Except the two reasons mentioned above, MPlayer synchronizes subtitles correctly.

Ooh I hadn't thought about a wrong type of subtitle.
    I'll look into that.
Computer is a powerbook 5,8 should be enough I think?
At least the video's play fine visual.
Nothing against mplayer btw great program!

I'm hijacking this thread to ask if you can change the size of subtitles (standard size is tiny)? Preferbly in config.
