I finished the installation of PageStream 3.2 in my MorphOS 3.3 system. Everything apparently went smoothly,

I finished the installation without error messages, entered my registration information, the program opens fine and all menus seem to respond, but I am not able to type in any text in a blank new document.

I checked in Project>System Preferences> Fonts and the Installed Fonts Drawer shows the following drawers:
- Fonts/Intellifonts
- SofLogikFonts
- StandardFonts
- StudioFonts

So I'm assuming the assigns are OK, but what can be happening?

I will appreciate any help.

Do you have set all assigns in user-startup? Maybe something went wrong during installation....

Should look like this (certainly with your pathes)

Assign PageStream: "Work:PageStream3"
Assign SoftLogik: "PageStream:SoftLogik"
Assign Fonts: "PageStream:SoftLogik/Fonts" ADD

Be sure that you have realy the right and full(!) path to Pagestream-Fonts directory!
If everything went ok font "triumvirate-normal" shoud be choosen automatically when typing text......

I switch meanwhile to my A3000, whitch has Pagestream3 installed (on Pegasos I'm working with Pagestream4)................

On MOS-Systems its better to use Snoopium (is similar to SnoopDOS on 68K-Amigas). You will find it here: http://aminet.net/search?query=snoopium
Start it before starting Pagestream. Snoopium will show you now what PS is additionally loading (to mainprog) from your HD. And it shows you wether these additional files are found or not.........

I guess I need a better set of adf images for the installation. Other than that I do have a legit registration number. Any chance somebody could share a good .lha of 3.2 or later version?

Or any suggestions on how to fix this mess?

Seems that PS does not find the Pagestream FONTS direktory (don't confuse with softlogik.font - this is only a screen-systemfont).
Normaly Pagestream Fonts are installed in directory Pagestream3:Fonts/..... Next step is to mark the right fonts-path in Pagestream's Systemprefs (Fonts) - in your case you have installed them in FONTS: - so mark this path..

I have installed them all in Pagestream/Fonts - every font-family in its own directory and marked them in PS/Systemprefs (for each family an entry) - thats all.

I have been having this FONT issue with Pagestream since I started using MorphOS, and I still haven't got it to work AT ALL, even with your idea, but then I'm not sure by saying

Hi all, I must say that PageStream 4 works perfectly under MorphOS 3.x, even though the program
is veeeeery old, it still can be used even professionnaly for industrual production (that's what I use it for).
With very old I want to say about feaures missing for todsays layout needs, like transparency, color blending,
able to use otf fonts, cms color calibration, etc, etc. All these features will be in PageStream 5.x for MorphOS
when it will be available.

Now about the fonts, I have all fonts that I use with PageStream4 in a subdir in PageStream4 dir called fonts
and then other dirs with different font types, like ttf etc.

It looks like this:
System:PageStream/Fonts/Intellifonts
System:PageStream/Fonts/IQEfonts
System:PageStream/Fonts/Serialsfonts
etc.

In the user-startup I have:

If you run PageStream4 under MorphOS 3.x you need to select a 16bit Screen because there seem to
be a bug in PageStream which does not show text on a 24bit Screen!!!

And last to run PageStream4 without problems you need to delete de CSets folder in the Softlogik folder.

That's more or less all to run PageStream4 under MorphOS 3.x

BTW, I only use postscript fonts (Adobe Type 1 .afm and .pfb) because I always print to postscript printers and these fonts give the best results and printing is fast!

I'm having the same issue now with Pagestream 4.2.

I have mounted the images of 5 Pagestream fonts disks and copied the contents (drawers with fonts) in the Pagestream 4/Fonts folder. Then when I launch Pagestream, go to System Preferences/Fonts, and add the drawer with fonts, and add again, I click save or use (following the instructions in the User Manual, but the software still finds only 44 classic fonts.

Any help to solve this riddle will be appreciated. :-0

I had the same issue with pagestream 3.2.
None of the magazines I made way back when would show the titles.
I installed Pagestream 4 and reopened them and they were perfect.
Apparently some sort of missing font issue.
All I can say is Pagestream 4 works.

In Pagestream3 package are the same fonts as in Pagestream4......... (I've all packages from PS3 to, unfortunately not really working PS5-MUI)

I moved my PageStream 4 (4.08.10) installation from my System:Applications to Work: Because I need to leave more room in my system partition.

CLARIFICATION: I'm using a copy of a previous installation that I had installed in my previous MorphOS 3.1 and that I moved to a USB pendrive, so I didn't run the typical image mount > installer method.

Could anyone help me to edit the user-startup sequence to reflect this change; Work: Pagestream4? This is what I used to have:

Assign PageStream: "System:PageStream" DEFER
Assign PageStream4: "System:PageStream" DEFER

You can't locate them all in ....softlogik/Fonts!! That directory is reserved ONLY for Pagestream's systemfonts.

You have to arrange your Pagestream/Fonts directory in the way I discribed some posts above (Nr.#18). Here you also see the correct assigns...

I've recently sent a few PMs to WeiXing3D to assist him with his problem with Pagestream, and I have now managed to get my FONTS issue with Pagestream fixed, so all my Pagestream fonts are now working correctly.

Thanks to all members who posted information about resolving this issue, but I think my problem was fixed by changing something in my FILE>PREFERENCES > (PREFERENCES REQUESTER) TYPE option, and there I changed something like the font size (which wasn't working at the time), clicked on OK, then SAVED the changes, and hey-presto my FONTS were working OK - it really has been a weird problem, but I'm really pleased my Pagestream program is now working under MorphOS as it was one of my main programs for Amiga 68k, so it's great for it to be working now.

For Pagestream fans, I spoke to Deron a week or 2 ago and he said he was currently working on a MorphOS specific version of Pagestream 5 so I really do hope that is realised soon.

Probably a stupid suggestion, but have you checked to make sure it is not simply a white text on white background problem? Sometimes the simplest solutions get over looked.
