As far as I know, there was no "sponsoring" beside providing P5020DS development systems for initial porting and later CyrusPlus boards.

Hassle with A1222 support would be tremendous for known reasons. Just look at the performance and compatibility issues in OS4 world. It's a wise decision to stay away from it. X1000 support would have been nice, yes. Sam440 I'm rather indifferent to as performance is really low. Efika performance is even lower, but that port was paid for, which made all the difference.
