Hmh.. sometimes keypresses like "C" aren't taken, more likely if your keyboard is connected to a hub. Maybe pressing Alt triggered keyboard being initialized/recognized better for some reason :)
It's weird that CD didn't show in the startup manager menu... I wonder if "boot cd:,\\:tbxi" from the Open Firmware prompt would work...
Nope, the keyboard was and still is connected directly to the front USB port, no hub.
