Never had that problem not even on the iMac so I doubt that there is a specific issue with those.

It does seem that the write fails (check with Snoopium) which can be the result of a dying HD -> get an SSD

Or there is already a file there which is in use (and can't be overwritten) or maybe the directory is somehow write-protected.
