I had the same problem several times, but I cannot foundout the case.
And every time it was only on MOS-unsupported iMac G5/2.1 and Powermac G5 Quad/2.5.
On Pegasos 2 and Powerbook panel works OK.

With Powermac I had also problem, that he shows unregistered MOS ( even if was registred) - and in one case when it shows unregistered MOS, the panel stay unsaved with save.

But it is only one context I remember. Finally I succeed save the panel settings on Powermac ( state of MOS was registered this time).
I don't know if it is somehow related or it's just a coincidence.
