Compatibility with a certain Amiga model is not a question of emulation vs. reimplementation but a question of accuracy, no matter if it's emulation or reimplementation. WinUAE for instance is an emulator and can be configured to be extremely compatible with virtually any Amiga model.

One reason for the perceived slowness of other OS is their memory protection ability, which MorphOS lacks in typical Amiga fashion.
