if I ctrl+C outside OWB to copy this error message to the forum OWB shut down and cannot be restarted, I need to restart MOS to be able to restart OWB. Any clue why the ctrl+C gives me this outcome. ctrl+c inside OWB does not give this result

you dont copy with ctrl+c. you have to press rcommand+c or lcommand+c (amiga/apple/windows button on the keyboard)

[+] Thanks Cego- it works with using the right command button+c om the Mac Keyboard and paste with rcommand+v.

[-] But why does OWB lock down and cannot be restarted without reboot OS if you do ctrl+c outside OWB.

This is naturally a typical WIN copy paste behaviour and I wonder if it makes sense that the browser is locked ? What is the purpose or is it a bug?

OWB works with Webkit HTML rendering engine so it inherits a vaste number of combinations of keys form alien operating systems.

I think it has been made intentionally for a practical purpose.

For example it clears the address input bar with CTRL +X combination.

However I tried many times CTRL +C CTRL +V combinations. They copy and paste only ASCII set code.

If I want to copy and paste international characters such as japanese, I need to use LeftAMIGA (LeftCommand) +C and LeftAmiga (LeftCommand) +V, that are able to copy all UTF8 international character set.

Also CTRL +C CTRL +V combination leaves an obnoxious ">" character in the begiining of the copied string, that must be deleted in most occasions.

    > Copied with CTRL +C

I mean, ">" character at the beginning it is good for quoting, but not when you need a precise cut & paste of entire string, such as in passwords.

Guys, since you are talking about shortcuts, I have a question for you all.
I have recently purchased a gaming Gigabyte keyboard which runs nice on the PC. I wanted to test it under MorphOS too, just to check if it recognized and if yes why not purchase another one, however I discovered that it has no right windows button! It's kinda custom made for gaming purposes and only features an Fn key and a lock win key (triggered when in online gaming in order to prevent accidental press of the left windows/start button). So, is it possible to define a new RAmiga/RCommand key via a utility or something?

What error message you are trying to copy? Some OWB related? Did OWB open new output window? If you try to use CTRL-C on output window it tells to program owning that window to quit itself.

CTRL-C is commonly used to quit/break/abort programs in many operating systems (Amiga, Linux/unix variants, Mac etc). Microsoft has yet again messed things up and made it working as non standard copy command :) This causes many problems on all platforms :)

In Amiga, MorphOS, OSX etc you use command-c to copy and CTRL-C is for aborting programs. Although some programs in MorphOS give you an option to copy/paste with CTRL too, just for making Windows users more comfortable, but as seen, it may cause problems and I'm not sure if it's a good behaviour afterall. You can look for example Keyboard section in MUI prefs and see that both command and CTRL options are enabled by default with MUI programs under MorphOS.

Maybe it wasn't OWB's output window, but Netstack's instead. If you kill Netstack it also kills OWB, and OWB won't start up without working TCP/IP stack running.

It's an another question if OWB should be run in offline mode without TCP/IP stack, but that's not up to MorphOS, but should be asked from OWB's developer (Fab).

In any case, MorphOS usually has TCP/IP stack running on boot, if not killed on purpose. And in this case (probably) you shoud start both TCP/IP stack (Netstack) and OWB to get in original situation and be able to browse the net again.

That truly makes sense now. I believe that is what happened.

    Thanks for clarifying jPV!

Look at USB-Prefs (If your KB is USB-type). There your keyboard should be listed (HID-class) -> double click on it opens general device information -> Keyboard should be listed at "Interfaces" -> double click opens hid-class-prefs. There take look at Keyboard and Action.........here you can redefine keys......

I don't know what happened in your case, but Odyssey handles ctrl-c properly and just quits when triggered. And of course, it can be restarted after that (unless you don't have a large enough contiguous memory block anymore to load the binary in memory).
