    Hi,

Recently, I found a Pegasos1-System and I tried to start it up or give MorphOS 3.14 a chance.
The OF says it is version 01.b114 whereas I found a info that there is a version 0.1b131 (20030805144022) available.

Does someone know how to get that firmware ???

    Regards,
    Sven

Any particular problems you'd like to address by changing firmware? Unless you really think it's going to fix some issue, I don't think it's worth the risk.

    I have indeed several problems.

The whole thing is very unstable:
I burned a CD with MorphOS 3.14 in order to install it but I can't even boot it up as the SmartFirmWare always complains about differnt things:

    - there is no file format found
    - the bootpeg1.img has unknown format
    - the directory can not be read

I did the following to solve that problem:
    - tried 3 different CD/DVd-drives
    - tried with both IDE-connectors on mainboard
    - tried with different cables (80 lines)
    - tried with HD/DVD on different/same cables
    - tried with different CDs

    It stays all the same:
    I go to console, type
    ls /pci/ide/cd
and get the directory (in most of the cases).

    After typing
    boot /pci/ide/cd bootpeg1.img
    I get always the error
    error: no filesystem recognized

Have you tried switching up the slave or master modes of your CD drive? If I remember correctly, I connected the CD drive to the secondary IDE port and used it in master mode. Using any of the other modes (slave/auto) caused issues.

Just switching IDE ports may not be enough.

    Hello!

After your post with your problems, I started a quick try to boot 3.14 on my Pegasos I.
I dont know the exact firmware version, but I have 1 GB RAM, and use a Harddisk and a DVD on the first IDE, and a DVD-writer on the secondary IDE. I booted successful the new MorphOS 3.14 with this setup. Tomorrow I will install, and look forward to give Wayfarer a try...;)

My command is every time the same, when I have to boot a update CD:

    Boot /pci/ide/cd@1,0 bootpeg1.img

To say only /ide/cd as argument never worked for me in the past...

    Good luck!

IIRC preapril-peg1 refused to init Radeon9250 agp cards and usb didn't work correctly until firmware was updated. It would be interesting to know what 0.1b131 fixed

    Hi _coliN_:
    thanks for your reply.

Finally I found a way to boot.
Because the OFW always complaint about "no filesystem recognized" when I tried to

    boot /pci/ide/cd@...

I did the following (glad to found an old MorphOS 3.8 installation in disk):
I booted from disk, copied "bootpeg1.img" to disk, rebooted into OFW and

    boot /pci/ide/disk@0,1:0 bootpeg1.img !

I did an upgrade and have a completed MorphOS 3.14 installation so far...

But I have to say that OFW/Pegasos1-system is just a big piece of rubbish.
I could "ls" the cd, but when trying to boot, it always complaint about "no filesystem recognized"...

Meanwhile I managed to do an upgrade, because I found an older Installation of MorphOS.
But still I cannot boot from CD...

If found the firmwareinfo here: https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pegasos_(Computer)#Firmware
But no clue about a downloadsite...
