I have a Mac Mini G4, and had previously installed MorphOS 3.9 wit no issues. It went really smoothly with the easy install. Recenly I decided I wanted to install MacOSX and Mac OS9 on it, so I followed the instructions on how to do it with several partitions, and I got all the way to the end, and it says it was successfully installed.

But when I take out the disc and reboot, I get a black screen on the TV that uses DVI (previously it worked great on the 1-partition setup) and when I switch to a VGA monitor I get a gray screen, but with a VGA monitor, I can at least boot the install DVD. So once I'm in there with the install DVD, is there some tinkering I need to do to get it to show on my DVI TV? All help is appreciated.

Initially when you setup your MorphOS installation did you just have the one partition using all the HDD space?

Or, have you got at least 3 paritions on the HDD? . . .

Was it setup in a similar way to 60MB for the Boot partition for MorphOS (HFS formatted), and a useable partition for MorphOS (SFS formatted) and a separate partition for Mac OSX (HFS+ Journaled) - so, apart from the 60MB for the Boot MorphOS partition the rest of the HDD space shared between the MorphOS and Mac OSX Operating Systems.

If you are sure you did, then have you attempted to boot the Mac Mini with the Option/Alt key held down, as that should show what bootable systems are on the HDD, hopefully with the VGA monitor or DVI connected TV, though sometimes the TVs cannot supply a sufficiently high frequency to run a computer screen, but if it has worked OK with MorphOS, then it should be OK now.

I'll wait to hear back from you, as offering too much advice (hopefully of the good variety) can make things seem more complicated than necessary initially. ;-)

By the way, the DropBox links aren't working/loading with OWB, well not for me, as far as my system can handle, so maybe consider an alternative option.

    1) I have 4 partitions.
    Boot HFS- 60MB
    MorphOS SFS - 20GB
    MacOSX HFS+ - 30GB
    MacOS9 HFS+ - 15GB

    2) See above.

    3) It shows the bootable systems, and then when I click the MorphOS drive and the arrow, I get a grey screen (VGA) or a black screen (DVI).

    4) I'd love to be using MorphOS for my questions, but It's not available to me right now. Dropbox was the quickest way to host the video / picture that I could think of.

Have you tried booting with the MorphOS CD and then having a look with the HDconfig utility to see if something seems wrong.

If you're TV has been OK with MorphOS previously DVI/VGA then it should not make any difference now, unless you inadvertently allowed Mac OSX to format the boot partition in some way, but if you use the MorphOS Boot CD then you should be able to see if anything is 'out-of-place'.

Can you boot the Mac OSX system?

I can boot the Mac OSX partition, and I can only see the screen if I boot on my VGA monitor, but no the DVI one. But I'm new to MorphOS, so I don't know what would be out of place.

Try to reset PRAM in case some openfirmware setting got wrong :

    1. Locate the following keys on your keyboard: COMMAND, OPTION, 'P', and 'R'. You will need to hold these keys down simultaneously in step 2.

    2. Restart your Macintosh and hold the COMMAND-OPTION-'P'-'R' key combination.

    3. You will hear the startup chime. Continue holding the keys down until you have heard three chimes.

    4. Your computer's PRAM will be reset to the default values.

Does the Mac OSX come onto screen through the DVI port, or only a VGA port/monitor?

Do you still have the MorphOS Boot/Install CD?

If so, have you inserted that CD to just boot to the MorphOS system, to see if the partitions, when you set the sytem up originally, are still showing?

The HDConfig utility when run should allow you to see if the SFS system has found any partition(s) with any errors.
