Hello all,

So after lurking for a while, I picked up a Mac Mini G4 on eBay for a good deal. Hopefully it arrives as advertised...

My current "retro" setup is an Amiga 1200 with an '030 accelerator and an indivision VGA adapter. While it's a great setup it's aging and I know one day it might not start up...

My plan is to install MorphOS on the Mac Mini and give it a try... I have a few goals...

1) Ideally I'd like to use Mac/MorphOS instead of my A1200 for my classic apps/games either running native or with UAE. How well does this work? Can I bring over my WHDLoad license and games? Does the Mac mini have enough horsepower to do decent emulation of the 68k software?

2) I'd like to do some "hobby" development projects for MorphOS. I use a lot of high-level languages with work (.NET/Java), but still like the nostalgic feeling of hitting the low-level hardware with c/c++. Perhaps I can contribute some apps/games to the MOS software library...

Just wondering how other people switched over from the classic Amiga HW/OS to MorphOS... What's better, and what didn't work out so well...

Well, anything system friendly should work quite well under MorphOS (with or without tweaks, with or without glitches). Anything that doesn't work or bang the hardware needs to be done by an emulator. I imagine that the JIT-EUAE shojld emulate a 030 just fine. Though I havn't tried it yet.

All in all it's easy to use. I have Ambinet configured to run UAE if I open an adf. Additionally i have set up a nice full UAE system (full 3.9 installtion + this and that). Since a while a JIT for UAE is available, too.
