    Hi there,

I just successfully installed Morphos 3.9 on my ibook g4 [1055]. I have installed it via CD [holding the C button right after the chime worked ok].

Then I did try a couple of customisation such as blanker and changing the default mouse pointer... Then it slowed down, obviously as is it still not registered yet... Now I closed the lid and noticed that it does not shutdown, it only turns off display and turns the fan off. Now I did not find how to power the system down, did not know about "Ambient" menu and shut down option, so I forcefully did shut down by holding the power button more than 5 secs.

Now it won't turn on to the desktop, no visible screen [black screen] and fan noise as soon as I turn it on.

    Any suggestions?

I need to get used to it first and then register it :)

Can you still boot from the CD?
    1 + 1 = 3 with very large values of 1

Now for no apparent reason it did boot, after numerous hard switching off the hdd. It chimed and now I'm turning it off just by closing the lid.

MorphOS can be turned off the hard way. There is nothing wrong about it. Just make sure there is no application writing to the harddrive at that point.

Using Apple+Q and selecting shutdown (or press S) for shutdown is the usual way. Or using the shell command shutdown.

Closing the lid is not shutting MorphOS or the laptop down. MorphOS/AmigaOS was never designed to be in some kind of standby mode.
