    Hi to all.

I'm very happy to try to use the MorphOS on my old A1200.
    But I have some problem:
If i try to start the MOS from cd i get a black screen ( I wait over 10 min with no result ) :-?
I try to install to HD. Made a backup of the kickstart 3.1, and put it on DEVS.
I modify the ss to use the kickstart.
I made an hardreboot, and made the boot from the partition where I copy all the cd ( maded the partition bootable ).
The 1200 seem to boot, but I didn' t get any output... :-?

    What I can do?

    My config is:
    A1200
    Blizzard PPC 603e 233MHz / 040 25MHz with scsi
    256Mb Ram
    Blizzardvision ppc
    Power flyer
    Hd Ide 20Gb
    Hd Scsi 1Gb
    CDRW Scsi Plextor 12x/4x/32x
    CD Scsi Plextor 32x
    PCMCIA Ethernet

    Thanks to all :)

    PS.

Looking around i find an info about the MAPROM needed to be disabled.
I turn it off and.... "startup failed returncode 10"
    What I can do now?

Did you remove the fakerom.elf frome extmodules when booting with a kickstart file? I would suggest that you try different resetlevels. You might need to copy 68040.library to the libs/ dir of the partition if startup fails.

    Ok, thanks for the help.

    I already removed the fakerom.elf from boot/extmodul.
I added the 040.library to libs.
I try to change the resetlevel2
Now i get: A requester that ask for ENV:
Afther, i get: MorphOS Startup 0.48 (4.8.03) Copyright 1999-2003 by Ralph Schmidt
    bad number
    Error: Can't read arguments

Looking around, I found another info : remove the ">NIL:" at the end of the startup-sequence.
It seems to be ok but, the result is a black screen.
Where I can find the correct graphics libs for the BlizzardVision?
    It seem missing...

Are you sure the current directory is MOS:Boot? You could try using absolute paths in the file - MOS:Boot/roms/hal.com1 or MOS:Boot/extmodules/#? for example. Why not use the included startup-sequence??

I suppose you should try different resetlevels in such case.

MorphOS is equipped with all the drivers for supported hardware. Check the MorphOS/ directory.

    Hi,
I have also tried last night without >NIL: it does not change anythings.
I also tried to add the "Archive" flags on the 3 files content in extmodules, doesn't change...
I try do delete 1 of the file in extmodule, doesn't change... except that I got faster to give me the error message

and finally delete of the files :-D , then I reboots and stay "dead" with dark screen, no reaction.

Where can be the problem with these files ?
I think i'm in the good area because when I make a typing mistake it told me a good error.

The other thing, is that I use my SCSI hdd with the "MapRom" in the bppc , nor it is not detected..
I name and labelled the partition MOS, FFS with 2048b ou 32kb clusters.

No idea about SCSI, never actually used. MapROM does cause boot problems. My guess would be that either the cdfs or your partition has problems.

    Hi,
    I don't use the CDFS.
Maybe at night I'll try NO MAP ROM, and with an IDE hdd.

Not that I can help cls2086 probs, but wanted to give some positive
    installation feedback.

Just created a ffs partition with low boot priority, copied the cd
stuff to there, completed the bootdevice entry, checked the map rom
settings and rebooted and - jeeez - MOS booted and Abient showed up
    just with the first try.

My beloved Delfina works too. Great!

First benches show that the maschine is quite fast, several times
faster than with the 040. Only Ambient is slow as hell, but tweaking
around a bit will speed up the things I suppose. Maybe I'll switch to
workbech. I have Ambient on my Peg already, why not using workbench
on the Amiga - kinda hommage to the maschine ;-) .

    Hello,

Here is what I did to have MOS working:
I burnt the ISO with MakeCD
I copied all files to a PFS3 partition with remaining space.
I edited the startup-sequence (the line "bootdevice MUST be modified,
    for me HD0)
I ran HDToolBox to give a lower priority to HD0 (-2) and mae it
    bootable
I rebooted I did hold the 2 buttons of the mouse to acces the
    early startup menu
    I choose HD0
    I clicked Boot
It booted without any problem under MorphOS

    Here is my config:

A1200/060-50 (useless for MOS), 603ev-270Mhz, PredatorSE with Vodoo3
and 8029 ethernet card, 128Mb RAM.

Ambient was slow like Hell, I renamed envarc:mui/<<GlobalPrefs>>.mui
to <<GlobaPrefs>>.mui.old in order to get a basic Ambient
(withoust gradients) and it's a lot faster but also a lot uglier :(

I also have a Delfina1200 Flipper Edition (clockport) which is working
    with AHI.

Remove the ramdebug and disableled options. Add "init initresident" to edebugflags.

Afair the serial settings should be 115kbps, 8n1.

You should set serial debug speed in startup options, you can choose from 9600, 19200, 38400, 57600, 76800, 115200 (yes, the switches are named that) .. I wouldn't recommend using more than 57600 for a 1200 though, as you'll get in trouble...

Then just set the receiving end to the same speed and 8n1.

Add "init initresident" to edebugflags and retry.

Btw FFS v45 seems to be causing problems. Make sure you didn't format the partition with it.

I did, nothing change on my screen, but on the serial yes.

-> Make sure you didn't format the partition with it.
oups I did. I will check that immediatly if I can do that.

I also take off the IDE adapter, Pcmcia adapter and the others cards in my grex, i let only the voodoo3 and the ess solo1... nothing change.

I also tried to use the autobootCD feature of the Bppc, no more luck...

Just to add some more info about booting problems, here is what i've experienced.

I do have a BPPC with 256MB RAM, a BVision, and a Mediator busboard.

The only way to make MOS boot in my system, after endless hours tinkering with the system, was:

Close the WAIT jumper in Mediator.

AND remove one of my 128MB SIMMs modules.

Now, that seems weird to me. Even if i have only the BPPC and BVision in my A1200, MOS will only boot if i have only 128MB in BPPC.

If i have both SIMMs (256MB RAM in total), the system doesn't boot, pretty much like CLS2086 describes.

Do someone knows what would be the problem ?

BTW, in PPC config menu, my memory speed is 70ns.

    Regards,
    Marcelo.
