In addition to the other items I am selling, I am also offering my 1.42 GHz iBook for sale.
It has a 14 inch display with Radeon 9550 graphics (R300), and 1.5GB of memory.

MorphOS 3.2 is installed but not registered.

Originally I was asking $150, but am now open to offers.

    @Jim

i might be interested in this, actually. but i'm a bit of a MOS noob, only very occasionally using it on my peg2. does the current version of MOS support 3D graphics on the R300 controller used in this model of ibook? what about wireless support? i know the built-in airport card isn't supported, so what do MOS users do for wifi access?

    Yes.

    What about wireless support?

Unfortunately iBooks have no PCMCIA slot, so Atheros 5000 cards cannot be used. The only option is some mini-router connected to Ethernet socket (+ USB port for power), configured as WiFi client. For example TP-Link TL-WR702N.

Personally I like the Netgear WNCE2001 USB unviversal wireless adapter.
I'd include that, but its the only thing that will allow my wife's computer to connect to our router.

    They are available here.

    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16833122373

As well as from other retailers.

It works with almost any device, and supports b, g, and n standards.

A great piece of hardware for any MorphOS system.

And, yes, I've tested it on my iBook (works great).

After looking at eBay listings today for similar systems, I may retract this offer.
Its a great time to pick up one of these.
Several were offered in the $100 range (albeit with less memory).

Right now I'd like to get at least $80 (plus shipping).

Sorry to hijack this thread, but can someone recommend a working USB WiFi for Ibook? Not to expensive if possible.

Unlikely. MorphOS lacks support for this.

I have this very router and it is tiny, works pretty well and cost less than pocket money.
For some reason it takes about a minute after boot up until net services are configured and available, but then everything's fine. For me the router works better (i.e. better signal) if operated upright, but you should have a stand for that router then (I can provide a simple stand for that router costing 4,5 EUR +1,5 EUR shipping EU wide).

    Can't believe I missed that :-P

That IS cheap! I will accept that offer once I get my Ibook working. It got that pesky firmware problem that's supposed to be fixed with 3.3.

I have something similar to this connected to the Ethernet on my G5 and my A3000 which then connects to my WLAN.

This solution looks much more economical :-)

Is it plug-and-play on your MOS system? My idea is to connect something like this to my Ibook and then connect it wireless through my Iphone. Is that possible with this device (I'm terrible when it comes to networks)?

Like I have mentioned, the Netgear WNCE2001 wifi adapter works great on iBooks (and just about anything else).
It has USB and 10/100/1000 NIC connections and does not require special drivers.

On my system it just looks like a standard wired network connection.

Like I have mentioned, MorphOS lacks support for USB WNICs. The WNCE2001 is no WNIC.

    > It has USB and 10/100/1000 NIC connections and does not require special drivers.

The USB connection of the WNCE2001 is only for power supply, thus it's no "USB WiFi".

Yeah it appears to the G5 as a standard Ethernet connection. You then browse to an IP address of the device's admin page and connect it to your WLAN/iPhone-tether and it's all automatic after that.

    Best 8 quid I ever spent. :)

Yes, power only on USB, but then I'm not here to nitpick.

It works and has since before any other wifi connection was supported.

The (non)ability of a network device to receive network data by USB port makes all the difference for the question whether or not it is "USB WiFi". Power supply via USB port certainly doesn't make a device "USB WiFi". I can't see any nitpicking here.

    > It works and has since before any other wifi connection was supported.

No objection to that but doesn't change the fact that your suggestion (WNCE2001) is unrelated to what you replied to (i.e. an answer to a question about "USB WiFi").

    True Andreas,

I wasn't really addressing your answer, rather the entire thread.
And I'm not that interested in USB wifi adapters when I already have a viable alternate.
SO, to please your delicate sensibilities, I'll reword the response.

Unfortunately, that wasn't clear from your posting. Quoting something and adding own text afterwards usually implies addressing the quoted part. At least that's how I've understood discussion works in message boards :-)

    > I'll reword the response.

I'm not sure this is better than before as now it looks like I just needlessly *acted* as if you were replying to my posting.
Btw, there was a similar case of retrospectively altering an already addressed posting in an intransparent way some time ago between you and me where I expressed my dislike for this.

    Sorry Andreas,
You are absolutely right that editing the post only confuses things.
I was in a hurry to get out of the house as I had to travel 60 miles to my ex-wife's to retrieve a couple of monitors.

From now on I'll try not to remove parts of a thread.

OK, the device finally arrived today* (the first one got lost) and I get as far as login in via IP-adress in OWB. I set the device as far as I understand it (it's written in Chinese to make matters worse) and I do find the WiFi network I use. But when I try to login, it simply doesn't connect. What may be the problem here?
