The guy sounds like he's desperate to sell. I'm local but I don't have the time or storage I don't with freight shipping costs it would be worth it to anyone, unless the outside chance someone else is local. It may not be worth your time even if local.

I'm just posting because this is a big lot and could be cheap. You could probably offer <$3,000 and get 300 MorphOS capable machines for less than the cost of one X1000 :-p

Problem is, an eMac is not worth 10$ in the 1st place .....

I don't know about that. A 1.42Ghz eMac is as fast as a 1.42Ghz MDD. Unless you mean leaky caps, which is a whole other issue.

The problem is shipping weight. Th cost to ship one from South Florida to California or Washington state would be eye watering. People would be better off buying local for the same price as shipping from here.

The problem is the CRT. Who wants that today? And a modification to TFT is said to be not that easy (I'd like to try though and if I got an eMac for a tenner I'd take it of course to tinker around).

If someone were to take the time, strip the eMacs of their daughter boards, build the necessary adapters to allow it to us a VGA monitor and an ATX power pack, then I think this might be worth while, but that's a lot of work, and honestly, I didn't have much fun with my last eMac, especially the re-casing part which was necessary due to the built in monitor getting too dark.

Too bad this ain't a bunch of Mini's with 64Mb vRAM.

A compareble MDD or upgraded QS can be had for about 50Euro areound here, no fuss with rehousing or recycling the CRT needed, and you get much better upgradibility thrown in as a freebie.

Add a few Euro more and you can score yourself a nice 1.5GHz Mini, performs on the same level, has proper DVI and looks sleak.

Personally I wouldn't even take in a eMac if it was free and lying at my doorstep,

    Kronos,

Funny, but the general consensus on MZ seems to be it is impossible to find a reasonably priced PowerMac outside of the US. You may want to help fellow users in Europe on how to obtain cheap PowerMacs.

About eMacs, I hear where you are coming from and I don't entirely disagree. I just don't think they are total garbage like you do. A 1.42Ghz MDD rarely goes for the $67 (50Eur) you are suggesting here. It can be found, but would take time. More common would be $100 or so. If someone has no exposure at all to MorphOS on PPC Mac, a $10-$30 eMac and free MorphOS Demo is not a bad way to go.

I no longer have ANY free room for projects with the kids growing and more adopted :-p If I had the space I'd snag a few cheapo eMac from this guy and do headless conversions into spiffy small ATX cases.

Dunno bout the US nor other european countries, but that last PMac I picked up was 40Euro.

O.k. only a 800MHz QS, but it come with an 17" ADC LCD (and was allmost a year ago)
Quick look into the "buy now" offers on ebay.de came up with an 1.25GHz single MDD for 79Euro.

Scoring one for under 50Euro might require some efford, but so does the (futile) attempt to convert an eMac into a useable computer (and will most likely cost you more than those 79Euro),

So yeah, eMac is only an option if it comes for free and your heavily into DIY.
(on top of that, the only eMac I found on ebay was an 700MHz one, 1 offer 1 Euro 2 days to go ..... guess eBay and I aggree on the value of these clonkers).

To put that into perspective somewhat, eBay Germany lists about 2.5 successfully sold eMacs per week over the past quarter.
