    Hello folks :)

My Pegasos 2 G4 1GHz motherboard is broken, before I start the process of trying to fix it -writing to Genesi asking for fixing, sending it etc- I drop a line to the community asking if anyone of you got a spare WORKING mobo and willing to sell it on a reasonable price. Drop me a line if you have something. I live in Greece and I can paypal.

Just for the record, cutting out the middleman by writing directly to bplan would make more sense for anybody wanting to have a Pegasos board repaired. It has been reported numerous times that bplan is fast at answering such requests (in German or English language) positively.

Having sent my Hardware for repair and without knowing if it will be fixed -yet-. I have managed to find a G3 CPU module, that fits on a Pegasos2 board!

So I am STILL looking for a Pegasos 2 Motherboard with the hope to build a replacement -in the worse case- or spare -in the best case- Pegasos 2 machine!

If anyone got a spare one, drop me a line!

Will also accept offers for G4 CPU Modules if any available...

Since Thomas Dellert passed away and they recently - from what I heard - run out of spare parts I guess such low profit repairs are getting near the impossible by now.

AKnabe is doing his best, but he is running his own business, so sending him something to repair may take half a year or even longer, as low profit repairs are low priority, too. He also may not be able to replace all broken parts due the lack of spare parts and/or equipment.

I have sent the motherboard and the CPU (late August) module to Aknabe waiting patiently for some feedback. I know he is busy and I know this may take a long time. I know he is doing the best and yes he offers one of the last hopes for such fixes.

Why a Pegasos? Well to my eyes Pegasos was and is the MorphOS dedicated machine. I had a beautiful PEgasos 2 system triple booting MorphOS, AmigaOS 4 and Linux and now nothing :(((

PowerMacs and PowerBooks are cool and I have plenty of them but nothing stands mighter than Pegasos (on my eyes).

I know that there are faster options -and I already have such machines-, but Pegasos for me is something very special!

I have noticed many people asking similar questions "why Pegasos it is not a fast machine anymore etc etc"... But no one is willing to sell a cheap board to me :D Come on offer the Pegasos cheaply to me and go for the Apple era! :))))

Just talked to Axel and he fixed the G4 CPU card in late december und he has undone the crappy and bad made try to overclock the card, which probably caused the main issue. Still no positive sign regarding the two boards, even since he already checked most components on them.

Just making sure that it actually IS a Pegasos 2 CPU board. I'm not sure, but I think Pegasos 1 (where almost every model had G3) CPU cards fit Pegasos 2 (where most are G4) but are "electrically incompatible".

I have one Pegasos 2 I don't use, but don't know if it works anymore. It was involved in a rather bad "gpu meltdown" which resulted in parts of motherboard looking rather "well grilled". Also, CPU card has some damage, which is probably fixable, but no idea if it works or not. I don't have any need for it really, so haven't bothered testing.

Information from bplan from today (German):

    http://www.a1k.org/forum/showpost.php?p=604217

A check costs 60 EUR including shipping. Replacement of the Discovery II northbridge chip costs 400 EUR.

There were Pegasos 2 models with G3 CPU Modules.

Those are good news but unfortunately I can not afford 400 euro to have a board fixed on the case that this chip is the problem. Having sent my mobo to Aknabe I am hoping for the best, he is already saved my G4 CPU Module :) Meanwhile I am trying to find a mobo on a reasonable price -probably by someone that has a spare or one of no need-, for the case that mine can not be fixed :(. Pan1ik offered one but it has been a long time since he has logged in here and he still has not replied to my PMs.

    Fingers crossed :)

G3 modules for Peg1 and Peg2 are identical (those used in Peg2s were most likely overproduced leftovers from Peg1 production anyways).
Only problem is that modules for Peg1 have a multiplier set to x6 (6x100) and would therefore run at 800MHz in a Peg2 (6x133). One might to try to get away with that by adding better/active cooling or by changing the multiplier (the info is out there, just don't ask me where).

I have two Pegasos 2's (and one Peg 1 April 2 ;-)) that I hardly ever use anymore. One G3 and one G4. I would like to keep the G4 but might consider selling the G3 (you said you had a G4 CPU card already?)

Make me an offer I can't refuse!

    :-P
MorphOS is Amiga done right! :-)
MorphOS NG will be AROS done right! :-)
