I've got a similar problem after changeing battery - the MAC was corrupted so that the MOS-keyfile would'nt work......
If you turn off EFIKA for 5 mins and turn it on WITHOUT the battery in place, the correct MAC should establish. If it does you can replace the battery during EFIKA is running......- if not try again! (thank Geit for this hint)

Btw: The origin MAC is (should be?) hardwarecoded and not stored in any backup-RAM. AFAIK there is only a possibility to set a 2nd, in the last 4 bytes different MAC only for the actually running session....I've read about this in a Freescale OF manual, but I don't know how one could activate this on EFIKA - I've tried this with "set-env local-mac-address xxxx" (only the last 4 bytes are changeable) - but it doesn't take effect on EFIKA.......(although the EFIKA-SF knows this command.....)

Maybe this will help you to get "this piece junk" running.........

I live in the Northwest, I'm was thinking of putting my licensed Efika on ebay this weekend, the battery's keeps being eaten, but at least the registration/mac address is kept.

Efika was ok, but in the days of Mac minis the lack of memory was simply the killer for me, when you can't play a game as old as Hexen II because the memory been filled up... :(

The EFIKA-concept provides a very small industrial board (like a thin client) i.g. for small server applications, coding, POI-applications, etc......but not really for games.....! In this case it seems to be better for you to sell EFIKA and buy a PegasosII or MacMini.......you will have much more fun with MOS...... :-D

    Eww dirty wiganers.

I've had an offer, I'll have a go with the keyfile again tommorow then its going to sadddam, unless someone else makes an offer. I'd just like to say that trading for a PowerBook G3 would be cool too.

I've got the Efika, but I need to contact Hell_Labs. Does anybody have an e-mail adress, as he obviously does not read here any more or controls his PMs...
Maybe he is active in any other forum?

The Efika is up and running again! The registration problem is solved, it worked after a) changing the battery and b) a clean reinstallation of MorphOS. And I've replaced the power-connector with a more solid solution. Now I'm looking for a 12" or 13" monitor with the highest possible (at least 1024x768) resolution.

Glad to read you've got it sorted :)
Looks like it's in good hands now after its mis-adventures with Hell_Labs ;)
I sold it to him for a bargain price but I think maybe you got an even bigger bargain buying it from him!

I hope so, it is my third machine running MorphOS (serial, not parallel). I would like a smaller laptop than my old Pegasos I laptop I've made some years ago for Senex. (http://www.retrocom.de/pegasos.html)
