    Who has one for sale?

    Thanks

    You might wanna add a location.

    Around here there is pretty much always at least one for at <100€.

    But even within Germany shipping is 25€ or more, so....

    Hi Kronos,

    I'm living in Belgium.
    I can imagine shipping cost will be high due to the weight.
    Which German sales websites do I need to look at?

    ebay, kleinanzeigen.de

    Always something, sometimes something good, often something good to far away ....
    I myself am looking for a 2.3PCIe/DualCore, no need to learn plumbing.

    But still with a bit a of patient and the will to pick something up you will find.

    Thank you for the info.
    I will start monitoring kleinanzeigen.de.
    Ebay has some G5 quads but they are overpriced.

    Regards

    Just a small suggestion.

    If you are going to be using it for MorphOS. The single processor PCIe 2.0 and 2.3 are a better solution imho.

    They run much cooler and use the massive heatsink and MorphOS only sees one processor so the other one is useless. The QUAD MB's tend to fail as well.

    You can swap out the 2.0/2.3 with a 2.5 processor and you will be good to go, exactly the same for MorphOS as the QUAD.

    There are a few videos out there describing and showing the process. I know Chris Edwards just did it as well and made a video for it, no idea when it will be released.

    Good luck!

    Hi matt3,

    Thanks for the additional info.
    What does "MB" mean?

    MB = Motherboard.

    For some reason the QUAD systems have a decent amount of motherboard failures. Good opportunity to purchase the processors as they usually are fine. That is exactly what I did and many others who bought a 2.5 from a failed motherboard system and used the processor to put in a single processor variant.

    The single processor PCIe system are very well made and run cool and quiet. No other PowerMac system for MorphOS is as good.

    Good luck!

    in -8 months it seems

    He makes only 1 mistake, claiming that there was a 2.7GHz model suited for this hack as 2.7GHz was only on option with AGP G5s.

    No he got a 2.5Ghz processor, so he has to pull a cpu off the heatsink and mount the 2.5. He made the video a week or so ago but no idea what his queue looks like to say when it will be released. He may bundle a 3.19 review as well with it, not sure.

    @Kronos

    Yeah, I told him the 2.7 is a different type of cpu and wouldn't work, even if he figured out the power connector differences I doubt the motherboard would work with it.

    From my experience the 2.7 PCIX is the best for playing media and with wayfarer.

    The 2.5 has a faster cache I think and faster memory maybe.

    So for most things the 2.5 on a PCIe is maybe a bit quicker or very similar, for the few things that hit the cpu hard the 200MHz difference makes a difference.

    I never could tame the 2.7 PCIX to be a quiet system, the 2.5 PCIe is sooo much quieter...

    What I find interesting is that the CPU clock seems to force the mobo FSB and not the other way round.
