Thats not "early" so, no idea if it would fit at all.

5.8 is using an AirPort/Bluetooth combo card (AKA A1127) - the same the Mac Mini is using. Sadly, to use this one in a PCIe G5 you'd need a runway card to fit it into the slot.

I believe 5,5 (A1085) also utilized the same model. For A1027 you'd have to go back to something 2003 or earlier.

In the 15-inch models you'd need to open the battery compartment. The Airport Extreme card should sit there behind a tiny flap (as seen here).

In the 17-inch models you'd need to look inside (and I mean inside) as the said card sits beneath the PCMCIA cage. If there are no white "Airport Extreme" letters visible through the cage - it's not worth the effort to dismantle it.

Well so I don't have any of those.

Just for fun I bid 1€ on ebay (+1.1€ shipping).

@ Kronos & koszer - the Airport Extreme cards in the earlier Aluminium PowerBook 17 inch versions have a membrane connector in any case, which is incompatible with the mini-PCI type connector slot in the PowerMac G5 PCIe models or even the other PowerMac G5 PCI models. So, only consider buying the Airport Extreme cards with a mini-PCI double-sided type edge connector.

That said, I am sure I have a spare Airport Extreme A1027 card of the type that would fit that I could let you have for 10 Euros, plus shipping costs (thin small padded envelope postage) to where you are, if that's the way you want to go with WiFi in your PwrMac G5 PCIe. The card cost me at least that amount so I would not be making any profit from letting you have it you are unsuccessful in your bid on the card you're interested in acquiring. Just PM me if your interested in buying it. 8-)

The one I bid on does look like it would fit into the slot, so I guess it is the right one.
I typed in 5.55€ and I don't plan to increase the bid since it is more of a gag than something I would really use daily.

If you fancy some experimenting I would start by simple removing 1 CPU in the Quad. Preferably the one in the socket unpopulated on 2.0 and 2.3 models (I think that would be the top one). If that works mount the 2.3's aircooler to the remaining CPU.

This is assuming that you have a license for the Quad.

If you succeed I'll raise my hand showing interest in that 2nd 2.5GHz CPU ;)

Hmm i would try to remove one of the 2,5 dual Core CPUs. It should be the lower as the 2,3 has the upper installed. And then put the Air cooler from the 2,3 on the 2,5 CPU and hope it will work.
Do i need the ADC CD or how this tool is called to calibrate the fans? I remember i had to do this with my old 2,7 G5 after moving from water to air cooling.
