I am thinking I may just take the "MorhphOS" plunge. I am nervous about buying hardware, mainly because I don't want to accidently buy the wrong thing and not be able to run MorphOS. I am looking for a laptop. Hope fully in good condition. Hoping someone my have one for sale.

Best suggestion is a Powerbook with 1.67 GHz (Powerbook 5.6 or 5.8). They are fast, well supported and can get eqipped with more than 1 GB RAM.
While no laptop the Mac mini G4 1.5 GHz silent upgrade (64 MB VRAM) is also a very good suggestion, too: little cost, great performance, neat little box.

I have a Powerbook 5.6 and a Mac mini 1.5Ghz and like both machines very much. The Powerbook is a great all in one package, but the mini has the full hd monitor and the better keyboard (could connect this stuff to the powerbook as well though...) which eventually provide the higher comfort.

I just bought a super clean Powerbook G4 5,6 ...1.67ghz, 2gb ram, 250gb hd. MorphOS runs GREAT on this machine. I paid $100 on craigslist for it.

Why not 5,7 or 5,9? Bigger screens are of course a bit less portable, but if he'd prefer the resolution :)

Anyway, this list can be helpful too http://library.morph.zone/Supported_Computers

Thanks for all the responses. I am unfamiliar with Apple hardware, do any of the MorphOS supported models have a "wide" screen instead of the square one?

All supported powerbooks are widescreen. If you want a square one there are ibooks. PB 12" is square but it has nvidia, so it's unsupported. Also there is one PB 17" 1GHz with nvidia.

They aren't wide in the meaning of 16:9 (like full hd) and neither 4:3 (VGA,SVGA) but in between - the Powerbook 5.6 (1.67 GHz) is 16:10.675 (1280x854) or for the 5.8 it's 16:10.667 (1440x960).
