I don't think there is anyone who is happier about this turn of events that has resulted in, or will result in the porting of MorphOS3.1 (or 3.2 if they use a new version number) to the G5 PowerMac.
What makes me even happier, is to see that there are so many other people who apparently feel the same way as I do about MorphOS3.1 running on G5 hardware. It appears that there is much more support for PPC and the G5 than some other people might have thought. I am not part of such a minority in the MorphOS community as I had thought a week ago.
That does not mean that there are not a lot of MorphOS users who want work to begin to port MorphOS to the ARM, or x86/x64 architectures, it just means that there is still lots of support for porting MorphOS3.1 to what is arguably the fastest PPC personal computer that was mass produced and sold in millions of units.
I think it shows that there are many MorphOS users who are interested in seeing just what is possible with MorphOS3.x on a seriously powerful PPC computer, while we wait however long it takes to get a port of MorphOS to more modern hardware, like x86/x64, or ARM (though I do not know if there are any ARM products that can compete with the 2.7GHz G5 with Altivec).
Edit: If Trevor Dickinson and Matthew Leaman are successful in bringing additional modern PPC desktop computers to the Amiga community in the future, we might eventually see more PPC computers supported by MorphOS3.x. I know that this is a hope of Trevor, that he has stated in the past, and that he provided more hints about what he is currently working on at this year's AmiWest Show, so who knows what the future will bring.
