In my opinion CAMD is not suitable for this purpose. It is designed primarily for distribution and routing of short MIDI messages. Virtual instruments produce realtime audio streams, so Reggae is much more suitable for this. To say more, look at U1Synth source code. It contains a Reggae class being no less than a virtual instrument. Rather primitive one, but still .
